2014 will prove to be a pretty big year for movies. It's pretty clear the sequels, reboots, superhero films, and movies based on young-adult dystopian novels will dominate, as well as a handful of kid movies. There are some I'm pretty excited for ("They Came Together") and others I could leave at the door ("Transformers"). Here's a peek at the upcoming movies for 2014, including their release dates.
- RoboCop: Just before Valentine's Day, "Robocop" will be rebooted from its 1987 version. The basic story is still the same: a terminally wounded cop is able to return to his job when he becomes part-cyborg. Release date: February 12, 2014.
- Godzilla: This rendition of "Godzilla" will probably be slightly more interesting than previous ones given that it stars Bryan Cranston. Otherwise, it's all about that giant, radioactive monster destroying mankind. You know, same ol' same ol. Release date: May 16, 2014.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: This reboot has been tried previously, but maybe this time with Michael Bay, Megan Fox, and Will Arnett involved, it'll stick. If this reimagining of a film about those beloved crime-fighting turtles does well, there are two sequels we could experience, too. Release date: August 8, 2014.
