Queen and Adam Lambert Announce North American Tour

Concert news

Yes, it's true, Queen is joining up with Adam Lambert for a North American tour. The three performers will hit the road beginning June 19 in Chicago, IL. The tour will wrap up on July 20 in Washington, D.C.

The trio has recently been increasing their amount of touring activity. In 2011 and 2012 they toured together in Europe, and last September they performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

On a side note, I'm very happy to admit I was wrong about the likeliness of this happening. A few years ago, I wrote a post about bands that should get back together for a reunion tour. I regarding as this to be an unlikely thing for Queen due to not much happening in terms of getting Lambert on board. Well, now he is on board, and they are going on tour.

See below for the U.S. dates and visit the Queen page for more information on tickets.

It will be a busy weekend, with a mixed bag of ticket onsales from pop musicians, country artists, sporting events, and Broadway shows. Several baseball teams, including Indians, White Sox, Rays, and Astros have tickets onsale for their regular games. In theater, big-name shows like Wicked and The Book of Mormon have onsales for their respective U.S. tours.

But it's really concerts that dominate this weekend. Several popular performers will have onsales this weekend, including Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, James Taylor, and Billy Joel. Plus, a few tours will join the lot at right, including:

  • Dierks Bentley, with shows in Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; and Phoenix, AZ going on sale for his Riser Tour 2014
  • Hall & Oates, with six onsales scattered on the East Coast
  • Tegan and Sara, who have 10 onsales for their Let's Make Things Physical Tour
  • James Blunt, with two shows in Riverside, CA and one in Englewood, NJ
  • Panic At The Disco's The Gospel Tour, with 28 shows

In addition, numerous country acts will have ticket onsales this weekend. Jason Aldean adds a show in Birmingham, AL, to his 2014 Burn It Down Tour; Tim McGraw will have three onsales for his Sundown heaven Town Tour 2014; and Willie Nelson has a few additional onsales for his joint tour with Allison Krauss, as well as a few dates for solo shows beginning in August.

Then, of course, there's Luke Bryan, who will be adding two onsales to his tour. While that's not especially notable, it is interesting that Bryan consistently shows up in TicketNetwork.com's weekly onsales posts because he keeps adding new shows to his 2014 That's My Kind of Night Tour. No doubt part of this is because the demand to see Bryan perform live is high.

Last year, Bryan ranked as the second best-selling event on TicketNetwork.com — above One Direction, The Eagles, and George Strait. And he clearly shows no signs of stopping. Bryan's 2014 tour is currently scheduled to go through October 25... in addition to the new EP he's planning to release on March 11, which will provide all-new material for his live sets. For Bryan, this weekend's onsales are likely only the beginning.

Concert news

The 2014 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival lineup features more than 100 acts, including Elton John, Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, Frank Ocean, and Janelle Monae.

This year's festival will take place in Manchester, TN, June 12-15. Tickets officially go on sale this Saturday, Feb. 22, at noon.

Particularly notable is the return of Kanye West, who hasn't performed at the festival since some drama went down in 2008. As the story goes, West was loudly booed off the stage after he arrived nearly two hours late for his set. Following the incident, West (in the kind of move only Kanye could do) went on an all-caps rant against the festival. His return to Bonnaroo should certainly be interesting.
