Father's Day Gift Guide

My dad doesn't wear ties. His garage is already overflowing with tools. He's not big into golf, or basketball, and he has enough New England Patriots paraphernalia that he never asked for to decorate an entire house. (Hey, it's the one thing everyone knows he likes, so he gets it all the time.) Figuring out what to get him each Father's Day is, to put it lightly, a bit challenging.

If your dad is anything like mine, you probably feel like there's no way to get a decent gift — not even if you start thinking about it for months in advance (and I have!). And now it's just one week before Father's Day and if you don't already have something picked out, it's panic time. Lucky for you, TicketNetwork.com has put up a Father's Day Gift Guide so you can stop struggling to come up with something to buy dad.

The guide lists a bunch of events in sports, concerts, theater, and comedy, including The Eagles, MLB, Catch Me If You Can, and Daniel Tosh. I could tell you more, but then you'd have no reason to check it out for yourself! (Don't worry about tickets not arriving in time — we offer some pretty fun gift notes that you can stick in the card to Dad. He'll freak out and think you didn't get him a gift and then SURPRISE! HE'S ACTUALLY GOING TO SEE JIMMY BUFFETT. Or something like that. I don't know, you figure out the logistics, we just have the tickets.)

Any ideas what you're getting Dad this year?

My Memory

When I was a child, the weekend routine at our house involved my dad switching on the record player and spinning his favorite albums — Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, Laurie Anderson, Pink Floyd, The Beatles — often with the volume at full-blast (especially if my mom wasn't home).

So, I guess it's no surprise that I grew up to have a lot of the same musical tastes. Even now that I'm "all grown up" and living on my own, my dad is my go-to concert date. We've seen a lot of amazing shows together, from the indie (Joanna Newsom) to the iconic (Paul McCartney).

One of my favorite father-daughter dates was to see Leonard Cohen during his acclaimed 2008-2010 world tour. From our orchestra seats, my father and I watched in awe as this preeminent songwriter and poet performed for three solid hours, receiving standing ovation after standing ovation. It's definitely a night I'll always remember. And who knows — now that Leonard Cohen's on tour again, maybe it's time for another father-daughter concert outing...?

My Memory

My dad knows I'm a big fan of oldies music; I love the Supremes, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, you name it! So when he got tickets for us to go see Jersey Boys last year, I was beyond excited!

For anyone who isn't familiar with Jersey Boys, it's a musical about the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, who sang big hits like "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry." Since my dad grew up during the era when Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were popular, even he was looking forward to going with me.

We were not disappointed at all! Every song was perfect and sounded just like the originals, even my dad thought so. Besides getting to enjoy some of my favorite music live, I loved this gift because it gave my dad a chance to go back to his teen years and relive music he loved growing up. I would definitely recommend this show to everyone!

Len's Memory

In 1963, I went to see my first live baseball game with my dad. I still remember the feelings I had when I walked into Yankee Stadium and looked at the field and the beautiful green grass.

Every game we went to I had the same excited feeling of looking out at the field where my heroes played. My dad was my hero, too. He introduced me to baseball, and he was even my first Little League coach. Now, every chance I get, I like to take my sons to see the Yankees play.

My experiences with my dad grew into a passion for baseball, and eventually I became a coach for both of my sons. I still go to Yankees games today with my boys, but I wish I would be able to take my dad too. Every time I watch a game, I think of him and all the lessons in life he taught me.

My Memory

Growing up, my dad and I got to spend a lot of time together going to events!

As a kid, he brought me to the circus; to major league, minor league and Cape Cod league baseball games; and to figure skating shows. I'll never forget seeing Oksana Baiul in the famous Swan Lake performance, figure skating duo Ekaterina Gordeeva and the late Sergei Grinkov, or Surya Bonaly and Brian Boitano doing back-flips on the ice!

All of those memories are great, my favorite event to attend with my dad is Tom Petty concerts! We have gone together three times now, and I think we are both secretly hoping that Petty adds more U.S. tour dates, including a show in Hartford this summer!

We go to the concert and hang out for a while tailgating then go in and sit on the lawn and enjoy the classic tunes of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. It's really fun to know that, even though we are a generation apart, we do still have some of the same tastes. We have so much fun, and given the choice between going with my dad or anyone else, I'd choose him every time!
