Concert news

Please excuse the awful Jonas Brothers pun in the headline, but the rest is legitimate: the band announced last night they would be cancelling their upcoming tour.

The Jonas Brothers were scheduled to have their first show of this tour on Friday, Oct. 11, in Upper Darby, Penn. Instead, they've canceled the entire 19-show tour, citing a "deep rift within the band," according to the band's spokesperson, Jesse Derris.

The brothers have been rumored to be arguing over their musical sound and the overall direction of the group — despite recently releasing two songs, "Pom Poms" and "First Time" off of their upcoming album, V. V is the band's fifth studio album, a follow-up to their album Lines, Vines and Trying Times, released in 2009.

There hasn't been an official announcement that the band is breaking up, but at this point, who knows? What do you think — are the Jonas Brothers over?

Yay! I get to mention Beyonce in this week’s post because we’re talking about…

Jay-Z and Beyonce in Cuba

Jay and Bey simply cannot catch a break. The couple recently vacationed in Cuba to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. But they immediately came under fire from legislators (and the general public) who questioned how and why they were able to visit a country the U.S. restricts its citizens from traveling to. Rather than release a statement, Jay-Z released a new song, "Open Letter," to tackle criticisms. I wouldn’t have it any other way. (The video, above, features the clean version of the song, with the unedited version available on YouTube.) Everyone was talking about the song following its release — even White House representatives, who issued a formal response.

If there's any band that can legitimately claim to be the band of pre-teens everywhere for the late 2000's, it's probably The Jonas Brothers. This was the go-to band for that group of people back when Justin Bieber and One Direction were respectively just some kids from Canada and the U.K.

What was initially intended to be focused around only Nick Jonas become something much bigger. The three brothers were signed, first to Columbia Records and then to Hollywood Records, and began recording and touring. They pretty quickly gained popularity, and four albums and five tours later you'd be hard pressed to find someone that didn't know about them. The brothers were more than just pop stars; they were TV and film stars, too, whether guest-starring on shows featuring other artists like Miley Cyrus or starring in their own productions.
