Will Michael Scott appear in The Office series finale?

The series finale of "The Office" airs tonight after nine seasons and all I want is for Michael Scott to return. Listen, I stuck with the show after he departed. I stuck with the show through endless Jim/Pam will-they-won't-they moments. I stuck with the show when Robert California drove me totally crazy. (Sorry, Robert California fans.) And now all I ask is for Michael Scott to come back one more time to bid the series adieu.

But everyone has been saying it's not going to happen. In an effort to quell any disappointment (and Hulk-like rage) I may feel if that turns out to be true, I keep trying to nonchalantly tell myself he won't show up. No big deal, I think, who needs him anyway?

Me, that's who, because I really, really, really want him to be on tonight's show. It won't feel like a final goodbye without him! So I've spent the last few weeks arguing with myself over whether Steve Carell will make an appearance. Will he? Won't he? Well...

Reasons Michael Scott WILL NOT return

Execs have denied Michael Scott will be in the finale. The cast, writers, and producers have been firm about this. They've maintained this for months, possibly longer, and urged us all not to count on it happening. NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt said "[T]he decision would be compromising his schedule."

Fall 2013 TV Shows

Most of the shows I watch used to be NBC sitcoms — "The Office," "30 Rock," "Up All Night," "Perfect Couples," "Community," "Parks and Recreation." As you can see from that list, only two of those shows are currently airing, with one ("Community") all but cancelled last season, and renewed only after some very serious campaigning from fans.

So that time of the year when my network TV life hangs in the balance and I'm waiting to hear whether my beloved television shows will be renewed for another season makes me a little nervous.

This season, when it comes to NBC shows, things got particularly brutal. Rumor has it the station is trying to complete revamp itself. ABC had some major cuts, too, but it wasn't too bad for other stations! Here's a list of those shows that have been confirmed as renewed or canceled/not returning due to its being the final season, as well as a few Fall 2013 shows to look out for.

ABC

Renewed: Grey's Anatomy, Castle, Modern Family, The Middle, Nashville, Scandal, Revenge, Once Upon a Time, Suburgatory, The Neighbors, Last Man Standing

Canceled/Series ended: Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, Happy Endings, Private Practice, Red Widow, Body of Proof, Last Resort, 666 Park Avenue, The Family Tools, How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life), Mailbu Country

On the bubble: Mistresses (has not yet premiered)

Whenever an SNL alum comes back to host the show, it’s pretty much a guaranteed good episode. When Kristen Wiig comes back to host SNL, the world collectively breathes a sigh of relief because SNL feels complete again. Or something like that! The point is, Kristen hosted Saturday’s show and the consensus seems to be that she did pretty great. In case you missed it, here are a few of her best skits from Saturday’s show.

The Californians

The accents in this skit are amazing, but the fact that Kristen, Fred, and Bill keep almost-breaking makes it even better. Also, Maya Rudolph, Kristen’s co-star in the films "Bridesmaids" and "Friends With Kids," makes an appearance!

This week, we're talking about how Spock meets Spock (part deux), John Krasinski is the next Katy Perry, and we buy boxes of tissues in order to prepare for "The Office" series finale.

Star Trek early release

"Star Trek Into Darkness" was originally supposed to be released Friday, May 17. But trekkies are getting so antsy that the movie release has been moved up one day. According to Paramount, the Wednesday evening IMAX showings are already sold out, so movie execs wanted to give fans a chance to see the film even if they weren’t able to nab tickets. Plus, with movies like "Iron Man 3" and "The Great Gatsby" opening early overseas, they figured: why not? Personally, I’m pretty excited to see the film. I still love that they found a way to write Leonard Nimoy (original Spock) into the first movie to appear alongside Zachary Quinto (new Spock), even if it was a little hokey. But others seem to dig it, too, as evidenced by the latest Audi commercial (above)!

This week, we’re completely obsessed with Corgis, the return of an NBC cult-favorite, and that third member of Destiny’s Child!

Corgis

Corgis are definitely among the cutest dog breeds in existence. I mean, those stubby little legs are enough to melt the hearts of anyone. Couple that with how furry and happy they are and you can see why Corgis have been the dog of choice for Queen Elizabeth II. Don’t even get me started about Corgi hybrids — their cuteness is lethal! It's enough to make even the least suspecting individuals end up with a house full of the adorable dogs. The cutest Corgi name generator surfaced on Tuesday to promote a Corgi rescue site. What’s yours? (Click here for a larger view.) I’m Miss Stumpy Fluffybutt, which I am surprisingly okay with.
