Ahh, the ‘90s. They weren’t here that long ago, and yet, we still get all warm and fuzzy inside whenever we think about them. I particularly miss the cartoons of the ‘90s, which I loved watching well into my teenage years (when it was no longer the ‘90s, but whatever). There are plenty of cartoons to choose from now, but for me, there was nothing like settling down with a new episode of "Doug" or "Pepper Ann" to complete the perfect Saturday morning. Here are my top picks for some of the greatest ‘90s wholesome children’s cartoons (because "Ren & Stimpy" and "Rocko's Modern Life" will be on another list).

Doug

Station: Nickelodeon

Aired:1991-1994

Main characters: Douglas 'Doug' Yancy Funnie; Doug's sister, Judith "Judy" Funnie; his crush and friend, Patricia "Patti" Mayonnaise; his dog, Porkchop; his best friend, Mosquito "Skeeter" Valentine; his enemy, Roger M. Klotz

Summary: The Funnie family moves to Bluffington where Doug must adjust to life as the new kid in town. He often writes in his journal about his experiences, many of which revolved around his group of friends. With a highly active imagination, Doug likes to dream what his life would be like as a superhero named Quailman.

Why it's awesome: "Doug" was about an insecure kid navigating the overwhelming and sometimes frustrating world of middle school. His life isn't perfect, which made him relatable, and he also had a huge imagination and a big heart. Doug was a little nerdy, and sometimes embarrassing, but so were we. We secretly hoped he'd one day get to be with his crush, Patti, or get discovered for his banjo talent and play with his favorite band, The Beets.

Nickelodeon makes its mark in the concert industry

What do you do if you're a television network looking for some other industry to expand into? Create yourself a record label, find yourself a few people with talent, and then watch the tickets fly off the shelf. That's what the Walt Disney Company has been doing for the last several years. Disney, of course, is responsible for launching the careers of Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers. But now that those two acts have settled down for a bit, another network has entered the fray: Nickelodeon.

Though it has released soundtracks for years, Nick really got started in the concert business when Miranda Cosgrove sang the theme song to iCarly, the series she currently stars in, and then launched a recording and touring career. Since then the network has brought together three more musical acts: Keke Palmer, star of the former series True Jackson, VP; Big Time Rush; and The Fresh Beat Band. The latter two in particular have taken off. Big Time Rush is about four kids who get a chance to move to Los Angeles as a band, and spend what time they're not singing trying to solve problems that face them. The Fresh Beat Band has much the same premise, though they're targeted at toddlers.

In case you haven't heard, TeenNick is bringing back the '90s, showing reruns of classic Nickelodeon shows for a few hours each weeknight. Current shows include "All That," "Kenan & Kel," "Clarissa Explains It All" and "Doug," and still to come are "Rugrats," "The Amanda Show" and more.

In honor of the occasion, I decided to ask a few team members what their all-time favorite '90s Nick show was and why. Check out their answers below, and then tell me what YOUR favorite is in the comments. Did we miss any?

Erin, Affiliate Marketing Program Manager: "Are You Afraid of the Dark." Seriously scary show!! Especially if you watch it without any lights on! I think they should definitely bring that one back, but maybe as an afternoon show…it may be too scary for late night “Nick at Nite.”

Liz, Content and Marketing Specialist (me!): "Hey Arnold!" I loved this show, especially because of Helga's crazy love/hate relationship with Arnold. Classic cartoon that I would totally watch at midnight, or any other time of day.

Danielle, Assistant Product Manager: I didn’t have cable growing up… dun dun dun. I watched "Hey Arnold!" and "Rugrats" a couple times at my friend’s house...do those count?

Tim, Sports Specialist: “Salute Your Shorts." I have one word for you…Donkeylips! I dare you to find one person who grew up in the 90’s that didn’t love "Salute Your Shorts." I miss Camp Anawanna, I miss Bobby Budnick, I miss them all. Now I just have to figure out which channel TeenNick is on.

Mike, Concert Specialist: "Secret World of Alex Mack." There was nothing cooler to me at the time than being able to travel around as a puddle. I believe this was the show that established my sci-fi/fantasy nerdiness.

Stephanie, PPC Specialist: I liked "Doug" – I remember watching it after school all the time.

Jess, Product Manager: "Double Dare." What kid doesn't want to be covered in slime?

What was YOUR all-time favorite '90s Nick show? Tell us in the comments!
