A few weeks ago I covered just a few of the instances where an artist's behavior ruined a concert for their fans. Of course, terrible concerts tend to be few and far between. Most go off without a hitch and people have a good time. Occasionally, though, the artist or band does something that makes the show extra special, either for a specific fan or the audience as a whole.
File this one under "good things come to those who help others," especially when your assistance goes to the guy you're driving to see. Last month singer Dave Matthews was out riding before a concert in Hershey, PA, without a cell phone when the bike developed a flat tire. Emily Kaus, a Dave Matthews Band fan who was heading to the very same concert, and her boyfriend, stopped to help and discovered the subject of their rescue was none other than Matthews himself. So Matthews hitched a ride to the venue with Kaus and boyfriend. The two ended up having dinner with Matthews, and received a backstage visit and front-row seats at the show.
This week, people are talking about the "Best Song Ever," a "Full House" semi-reunion, and Kristen Wiig as Michael Jordan.
1D's "Best Song Ever"
Earlier this week, Directioners were super excited when One Direction's new single, "Best Song Ever," leaked a few days early. The song was set to come on July 22, and the band was even releasing daily video teasers culminating in a countdown until the song's release. With only five days to go, the song leaked online July 17. To be fair, the band had been teasing the song since they released the trailer for their 3D movie, "This Is Us," back in June. I doubt this will hurt sales even a little bit.
Here in Connecticut, we can tell it's almost June because we're practically melting. After all, the general rule of thumb for New England weather is that if you're not shoveling your way out of several feet of snow, then you're probably baking in the sun.
That said, summer is totally the best time for events! Summer tours, sporting events, musical festivals, touring theater shows... it's a mecca, really. Here are a few things to look forward to in June.
American Idol Live: Season 12 "American Idol" finalists hit the road June 29, with their first show in Saint Louis, MO.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Backstreet Boys. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I’m still secretly obsessed with them and I’m suuuper excited about this. All five members are back and they’re performing a 20th anniversary concert in L.A. tonight, for free, where they’ll be debuting new music and showing a new clip from their upcoming documentary. (I’m crying inside because I’m on the East Coast.) On Monday, April 22, the band will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which I think is pretty fitting for the best-selling boy band of all time. On top of that, this year we’re also expected to get a new album (WITH Kevin) and a tour and I. CAN’T. WAIT.
Aside from proving how much of a huge loser I am, here’s what their 20-year celebration also means: we’re all getting old. Seriously, guys. All of the members of the Backstreet Boys are married or soon-to-be and most of them have babies! One of them is 40! When did that happen? Here are 10 other things that will help make you feel seriously old.
1. Zac Hanson is no longer just the cute little "baby" of Hanson, playing drums with his older brothers. Actually, he's 27. Meanwhile, some other boy band "babies"? Justin Timberlake, NSYNC, is 32. Drew Lachey, 98 Degrees, is 36. Joey McIntyre, New Kids on the Block, is 40.
