2013 Oscars are tonight, inspire Kids Oscars and Pawscars

I sometimes tune in to award shows, but I'm also the first one to acknowledge that sometimes they can be a little dry. I mean, when you really think about it, it's a bunch of rich celebrities getting together to tell other really rich celebrities how awesome they are. Still, we seem to eat it up, and the Academy Awards (AKA the Oscars) are no exception. The show will air tonight, February 24, at 7 p.m. EST on ABC. Seth MacFarlane, creator of "Family Guy," will host.

In the meantime, can we all take a moment to appreciate the Kids Oscars? These cutie pie kids reenact short scenes from some of this year's movie nominees: "Zero Dark Thirty," "Argo," "Lincoln," "Beasts of the Southern Wild," and "Django Unchained." While the content is made kid-friendly, the jokes are meant for adults and those familiar with the films. There's even info about how they made the film and whether the kids ad lib. Ugh, I can't take the adorable levels going on here. (Spoilers ahead, yo.)

If that's not your thing, check out the Pawscars! The 2013 Pawscars is presented and created by the American Humane Society. It's basically just its way of saying that no animals were harmed in the making of this year's movies, but still! So cute! Just a note that the Pawscars are literally a mini awards show for the animals, so the video's about eight minutes long. A list of winners can be found here.

Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln lead 2013 Oscar nominations

"Beast of the Southern Wild" nabbed five nominations, while "Amour," and "Argo" got four each.
