It's hard to think of a better television genre to unwind with than comedy. These are the kinds of shows that can make us laugh despite everything else that's going on in our lives... and man, do we appreciate that.

Although we're pretty anti-sitcom here (sorry, "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men"), there are plenty of other comedies we love — so much so, in fact, that it was hard to narrow down our choices for this post.

Here are our 3 picks for the best television comedies to binge-watch!

Parks and Recreation

Why Tim Loves It: "Parks and Recreation" is without question, the most underrated show on television. When I say underrated, I mean, it is inexplicable why the show has such low ratings (I'm looking at you, NBC, for your poor promotion). If you have never seen the show before, there is no better time than now.

For anyone just starting to watch, I will give this warning, the first season is... ok. You can see it getting better as the season progresses as each character grows. The show hits its stride in season two and never looks back. There is no show I have ever seen with so many great characters, including Ron Swanson, Leslie Knope, Ben Wyatt, Tom Haverford, Andy Dwyer (my favorite), Ann Perkins, and the list goes on and on. Even the small parts are amazingly memorable, including characters like Councilman Jamm and Jean-Ralphio. I realize if you have never seen the show before, these names are meaningless, but trust me, you will love them all.

Do yourself a favor join the pack of incredibly loyal and passionate fans of "Parks and Rec" and binge-watch this show the next chance you get.

Television

Today, IFC announced their satirical sketch comedy show "Portlandia" will be renewed for two more amazing, glorious, wonderful seasons. Seasons four and five, which will be 10 episodes long, will premiere in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

"Portlandia" stars SNL cast member Fred Armisen and actress/writer/musician Carrie Brownstein. Although Lorne Michaels (yeah, the dude behind "SNL" and "30 Rock") is the executive producer, the show is totally, 100% the brainchild of both Fred and Carrie, who write and star in almost every sketch. Their already-impressive list of guest stars includes Aubrey Plaza; Heather Graham; Jeff Goldblum; Penny Marshall; Roseanne Barr; Rose Byrne; Patton Oswalt; and Kristen Wiig.

These are my five favorite "Portlandia" sketches to prove that this is a show you should totally be watching... but whatever, you've probably never heard of it.
