Some people make a lot of money. Like, so much money the rest of us peons can’t even fathom how much money that is. Aside from being a celebrity, it seems like sports is the place to be if you want to be so rich that you can swim in a pool full of money.
According to a recent article, the highest paid employee at most public colleges is not the college president, but some type of sports coach. Most coach football, although some coach basketball, and one highest paid coach does hockey. Many earn in the low millions (as if "low millions" is a thing anyone would pass up).
But their salaries sort of pale in comparison when it comes to what professional sports players make. Sports Illustrated released a list of the top 50 best paid athletes... and they make so much. They could probably buy an island. For their pet giraffe. And that pet giraffe could have a pet monkey. And that pet money of the pet giraffe has its own island, too.

10. Zack Greinke, $29,020,000: Greinke, who is 29, plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers and, for that alone, makes $29 million. He also makes $20,000 in endorsements. The Dodgers tend to have the highest payroll in all of the majors, with four of their players on the list. Greinke's contract was at one point the biggest ever for a right-handed pitcher, with a six-year, $147 million deal.

Is it May already? This month, concert festivals really kick it into high gear, and many artists launch their summer tours. The NBA Playoffs are under way, and now that the weather is nicer, it's time for the The Players Championship.
Although no new Broadway shows are opening this month, many will likely flock to see the productions recently nominated for Tony Awards, including Pippin and I'll Eat You Last. The film "42" was released yesterday in movie theaters across the U.S. It tells the story of Brooklyn Dodgers manager Branch Rickey and the legendary Jackie Robinson. Robinson, the first black baseball player in the MLB, began as a first baseman in April 1947. The Dodgers effectively ended racial segregation that had made black players play the sport on separate leagues. But it wasn’t easy, and "42" sheds light on the struggle Robinson faced, and the risk Rickey took in making him part of the team. Two weeks ago we saw the long awaited battle between George St. Pierre and Nick Diaz. And now that the event is over, what is up next for these two fighters who are still very much in their prime?
George St. Pierre
George St. Pierre is, by most standards, is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world (sans Anderson Silva). After beating Nick Diaz so convincingly (albeit a little boringly), the logical next step is to take on the number 1 contender in the weight class, Johny Hendricks. Hendricks, the most explosive yet underrated fighter in the Welterweight division, has been waiting all too long for the title shot. By beating Carlos Condit in a unanimous decision, Hendricks has shown that he deserves the shot more than anyone. But aside from defending his title, most people will want to see a fight between George St. Pierre and Anderson "The Spider" Silva, before they both get too old. But getting the two to fight is going to be hard.

In the concert world, April marks the beginnings of festival season, which lasts all summer long. Crossroads Guitar Festival is a great opportunity for music buffs to commemorate the fun summer of music ahead.
Meanwhile, in sports, the MLB seasons starts! April is also big for theater, and most of Broadway's plays will be opening this month — including (finally) Tom Hanks in his role as Mike McAlary.

Dave Matthews Band: Though the band toured frequently in the '90s, DMB hasn't toured since 2011. Now they're back with a tour that begins April 6 in Alabama; just a few weeks later, on April 28, they'll headline the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
