Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to Meet in the Ring

View Comments(0)
Mayweather vs Pacquiao

The wait is (nearly) over! Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have finally agreed to meet up for the long-anticipated bout. The star boxers will enter the ring together on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

The rumors, speculation, and negotiations have been relatively long-running. The "will they, won't they" reports have been coming out since late 2009. In an entertainment-related industry, that's practically forever. Mostly the negotiations centered around money and drug testing. Basically, who gets the bigger share of the pot and under what conditions should testing occur.

Now all the anticipation has come to fruition. Visit the event page for tickets.

Blizzard warnings for Winter Storm Juno

A blizzard is forecast to hit the Northeastern area of the United States from late Monday to Wednesday. Lots of snow and high winds will make driving very difficult at times on those days. With that in mind, some bands and teams have begun postponing their events.

This list below lists events that have been postponed or cancelled. Keep in mind that the list is by no means an exhaustive list. If you are planning to attend any kind of event in the Northeast on late Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, please check the website for the event, other outreach sources like Twitter and Facebook, and local media for additional news.

On Broadway, Aladdin and The Lion King are CANCELLED for Tuesday, according to the Broadway league's website. You can see other theater updates below.

Top 5 Most Surprising NBA Teams So Far This Season

Toronto Raptors

Source: YouTube.com

The Toronto Raptors are by far the NBA’s biggest surprise of the season thus far. Led by veteran point guard Kyle Lowry, the Raptors are off to their best start in franchise history posting an 8-2 record through 10 games. The high-rising DeMar DeRozan leads the team averaging 21.2 PPG, while the 7-foot tall center Jonas Valanciunas is having a career season averaging 8 RPG and 11 PPG. The only NBA team located outside the U.S., the loyal Raptor fan-base has chanted and termed the phrase #WeTheNorth. Look for continued success from a team that is surprising the entire league with their energy and play-making ability.

My Prediction: Toronto will finish in the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference, behind Cleveland, Chicago (if Rose can stay healthy), Washington, and Miami.

5-Year-Old Playing for Utah Jazz is Cutest Thing Ever

This week, the Utah Jazz made headlines when they added a new player to their team. Five-year-old JP Gibson, who has leukemia, signed a one-day contract with the Jazz and was the star of the last night's scrimmage. Wearing a Jazz jersey with the number "1" on it, Gibson even managed to wow the crowd with his two-handed slam dunk.

Prior to Gibson's superstar moment on the court, he met with Jazz President Randy Rigby and signed his contract in front of the press. His family — Mom (Megan), Dad (Josh), and 2-year-old sister, Elsie — was on hand to celebrate. The event was part of the "Anything Can Be" project, which helps families who are impacted by childhood cancer.

And the press release the NBA wrote announcing the ordeal? It's priceless. The release calls Gibson a "free agent" and says "financial terms were not released" (naturally). Check out some photos from the (adorable) event after the cut.
