It's almost April, which will hopefully bring some spring weather (without the relapses into winter that filled up March here in CT). April will also bring some pretty great live events, plus April Fools Day, National Welding Month and National Karaoke Week (my favorite!). Check out the preview of April live events below!

Concerts

Coachella: For the first time, the festival will span two weekends, starting April 13 and going through April 22. Top headliners include Radiohead, David Guetta, Florence and the Machine, Gotye, and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

TicketNetwork January live events preview

January Events Image

Ah, January. With the holidays over, it's back to reality. All the shopping is over, but there are probably lines of people returning clothes that don't fit. There is no more reveling, but probably plenty of clean-up in the aftermath of it. It's 2012, people (or will be when most of you read this)! This ought to be a great year, assuming the world isn't destroyed on December 21. We made it through the last two apocalypses, though, so we're probably okay.

December is a long ways away, though. Let's talk about January. The celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday is on the 16th. It's also National Blood Donor Month, and the second week of January is Letter Writing Week. Much is happening in live entertainment as well, so let's take a look.

Concerts

Red Hot Chili Peppers: RHCP is embarking on their first tour in more than four years in support of their latest album I'm With You.

George Strait & Martina McBride: The two country stars are banding together for a month-long tour across the southern and Midwestern United States.

Lady Antebellum: Country band Lady Antebellum is beginning a tour on January 28. Many of the tour dates will feature Thompson Square and Hootie and the Blowfish's Darius Rucker.

UFC is giving the WWE a ticket sales smackdown

Just a few short years ago, the UFC was financially struggling and trying to avoid having to fold up their business, while the WWE was at the top of their game, raking in millions for their Pay-Per-View events both in television sales and ticket sales.UFC Octagon Fast forward to today and the WWE is still raking in millions, but the UFC has had an incredible turnaround in mainstream success surpassing the WWE in demand for their Pay-Per-View events both on television (UFC routinely has more Pay-Per-View buys) and in the stands.

I decided to do a comparison of the next three Pay-Per-View events for both the WWE and the UFC to see just how big the difference is in demand for tickets for both organizations. I looked at sales on the TicketNetwork Exchange for WWE's Night of Champions (Sept. 18), Hell in a Cell (Oct. 2) and Vengeance (Oct. 23), and compared them to UFC 135 (Sept. 24), UFC 136 (Oct. 8) and UFC 137 (Oct. 29). The results were even more lopsided than I thought they would be.
