If you don't follow sports very closely, you may not know that game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals happens June 4. The Rangers were the first team to make it to the finals... and after watching the video below, I can't help but root for them. Check out the 11-minute profile on Rangers play Dominic Moore and his lovely wife.
This week, Jimmy Kimmel pranks everyone, the first week of the NFL season is in the books, and Jim Carrey shares a picture of his chipped tooth.
Jimmy Kimmel Behind Twerking Gone Bad Video
A week after a video of a young lady attempting to "twerk" and failing miserably went viral, getting over 9 million views on YouTube alone, it was revealed this week that it was actually just an elaborate prank by late night funnyman Jimmy Kimmel. I'll admit it - I was duped. When I saw the original video, I just shook my head and said, "this is Miley Cyrus' fault." Kimmel did not do any promotion of the original video. It all happened because apparently America loves twerking and watching people fail. Well played Jimmy, well played.
I discovered Flight of the Conchords a few years ago when a song of theirs randomly came on one of my Pandora stations. Since then, I sing (no pun intended) their praises to everyone I know. What I discovered is that for the most part, either you know who the Flight of the Conchords are and you're a big fan, or you don't know who they are.
For those of you who don't know who they are, the Flight of the Conchords are a comedy and music duo from New Zealand comprised of Jemaine Clement (who you may recognize from movies like Dinner for Schmucks and Men in Black 3) and Bret McKenzie (who you may not recognize, but he did win an Academy Award for the song "Man or Muppet" from The Muppet Movie). The two have toured around the world and released multiple award-winning comedy albums, but their fame really grew thanks to their HBO show that ran from 2007-2009.
They will soon be embarking on another tour as part of the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, co-headlining the show with comedian Dave Chappelle. The tour will hit cities across the country including Austin, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; and Irvine, CA.
In honor of their upcoming tour (which you know I will be going to), I decided to put together my top five Flight of the Conchords songs. (Sorry for a few of these videos having some advertisements and a couple bad words sprinkled in there)
#1 - Hurt Feelings
In the world of fluffy, cute Pomeranians, Boo has been around, uncontested, for quite some time. But now Boo has some competition in another fluffy, teddy bear-like Pomeranian named Jiff (professionally known as Jiff the Pom).
Some might say Jiff the Pom is merely riding on the coattails of Boo; others may argue that it's time for Boo to move over, and anyway, look at all the tricks Jiff can do! Both dogs are very fluffy, very cute, and very marketable.
So who is better?
Let me start off by saying I am a die-hard New England Patriots fan. When I heard the news a few days ago that Tim Tebow was joining my team, I reacted like any sane Patriots football fan would: I was completely indifferent. Tom Brady is our quarterback. He will be our quarterback for all of next season barring injury. If Tim Tebow takes more than a handful of snaps over the course of the season, then the Patriots are already in deep trouble because either Brady is injured or Bill Belichick has officially gone crazy.
The one thing that did make me happy about Tim Tebow making it back into the NFL was the return of "Tebowie" on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." If you haven't heard of Tebowie before, it's basically exactly what it sounds like: a combination of Tebow and legendary musician David Bowie. Tebowie made his debut a few years ago when Tim Tebow had his memorable run as QB of the Denver Broncos. Below is last night's edition of Tebowie:
Not bad, but the original is still by far my favorite. For those who have never seen the videos, and for those of you who just want to see them again, here are the first two editions of "Tebowie."
