This week, I almost wrote about Lauren Conrad's new book coming out, but no one is talking about that except... well, me. And Lauren Conrad. So instead, let's discuss an 11-year-old's awesome National Anthem rendition, Kanye West's impeccable interview skills, and the return of HBO's "True Blood" for its season 6 premiere.
NBA Finals National Anthem
11-year-old Sebastien De La Cruz's performed the National Anthem at game 3 of the NBA Finals earlier this week. People immediately took to Twitter, angry that Cruz was the one selected to sing the National Anthem because apparently he didn't look "American" enough, whatever that means. Thankfully, those people were in the minority, and many rallied behind Sebastien not only because it's the right thing to do, but because his performance was awesome. Sebastien was invited back to sing at Game 4 of the finals — with an introduction by San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro and his wife. Kudos to Sebastien for taking it all in stride. Also, how cute is his mariachi outfit?

What do a heart-wrenching episode of an HBO show, a singing 8-year-old in a music video, and sloths have in common? Absolutely nothing, but we are talking about them this week.
Game of Thrones Reactions
Technically, what happened in last week's episode of "Game of Thrones" was public knowledge prior to its air date, since George R. R. Martin released the third book in his series in 2000. But not all of us have read his novels and instead only watch the HBO series... SO THE EPISODE HURT. I won't say anything except: why? And why am I such a masochist? And why does George R. R. Martin hate us so much? Sigh. Thankfully, I'm in good company. Videos of "Game of Thrones" fans reacting to the episode have made their way around the internet. (NSFW language at the source.) The episode has effectively divided the entire fan base into "show watchers" — people like me, who will not speak of such a mortifying experience — and "book readers" — those who knew what was coming and thought it was toootally funny when the rest of us were horrified. TV watchers unite! ...As we cry ourselves to sleep waiting for the season finale this weekend.

It's the end of May, and this week: Will and Carlton reunited for the most awesome "Fresh Prince" throwback ever, some incredibly smart kids got their very well-deserved 15 minutes of fame, and we're still dissecting every second of "Arrested Development."
Fresh Prince of Bel Air, revived
Will Smith and his son, Jaden, have been making their rounds as of late to promote their newest film (out today) called "After Earth." They stopped by several talk shows, but undoubtedly the one that's most exciting is their appearance on the UK's "The Graham Norton Show." Though the interviews included some interesting chatter — including the fact that Kanye West has been urging Will Smith to get back in the studio and rap again — what had everyone talking was Will and Jaden rapping the "Fresh Prince" theme song, while DJ Jazzy Jeff played the music AND Alfonso Ribeiro (AKA Carlton from "Fresh Prince of Bel Air") did "The Carlton Dance"! It was an awesome moment for any former "Fresh Prince" fans (like me) who know all the words to the opening rap... because come on.

Animals were in the news kind of a lot this week, so I wanted to just roll with it with What People Are Talking About (animal edition!). It's appropriate considering this week dogs FINALLY got their own app! Where My Dogs At is a social networking app that lets dog owners connect and share things like dog friendly spots and photos of their pets. (For real.) This week, we're talking about a dog that survives a tornado, cats become the latest fashion accessory, and a surfing dog is so awesome he'll make you cry.
Dog survives tornado
In undoubtedly one of the most emotional reunions ever, a dog and its owner found one another in the aftermath of the horrific Oklahoma tornado. While giving an interview with CBS about the tornado's devastation, Barbara Garcia shared the story of how she and her dog were huddled inside their home, taking cover in their bathroom. The two were separated in the chaos and Barbara assumed her dog had been lost to the tornado. But just moments into the interview, her dog pops up, alive, in the rubble! Barbara, with the help of the CBS news crew, is able to free her dog, resulting in a totally amazing (and slightly tear-jerking) reunion.

Since I talked about "The Office" finale at length already, I won't include that in this week's post. But just know this: OMG. In addition to "The Office," we'll also say goodbye to an SNL cast member; the cutest graduate said goodbye to college; and Barbara Walters says goodbye to television.
Bill Hader leaves SNL
This week, Bill Hader announced that Saturday's SNL episode will be his last. His decision to leave the show follows that news that Seth Meyers will be leaving Weekend Update to take over Jimmy Fallon's late-night hosting gig. Hader told the New York Times, "It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point." For eight years, Hader played characters like the smarmy game show host; Herb Welch, a not-so-great reporter; and, of course, Stefon, a frequent Weekend Update guest who gave tips for the hottest spots in NYC, usually in the form of nightclubs that were so bizarre Hader couldn't stay in character. (See a mash-up of great Stefon moments in the video.) Mostly, Bill Hader was one of those SNL members who seemed like he'd be on the show forever. And we kinda liked it that way.
