World Series

This week, the Kansas City Royals and the San Francisco Giants advanced to the World Series. While the Giants have played in the World Series several times in recent memory, including two wins (in 2010 and 2012), the Royals haven't made it to the World Series since their 1985 win. So, you know, it's been a while, which means Royals fans are pretty excited about their team's victory, including Paul Rudd. Rudd, who was at Wednesday's game, was interviewed by reporters and said he'd be celebrating by throwing a party at his mom's. If you're not a Royals or Giants fan, then that party at Paul Rudd's mom's house is probably the most exciting thing about this news.

Pluto

It's been eight years since Pluto had its status downgraded from "ninth planet" to "joke." (Okay, actually, it was called a "dwarf planet," but you know.) Well, Pluto might just be having the best week ever because some researchers at Harvard have said nah, Pluto, you're totally a planet. The researchers wrote, "Even though a dwarf fruit tree is still a small fruit tree, and a dwarf hamster is still a small hamster." I think it's pretty solid logic. Derek Jeter

This week, Derek Jeter said farewell to the Yankees. He played his final game last night and many were saddened to see his prolific career come to a close. For months, many of paid tribute to The Captain, tagging things on Twitter with #FarewellCaptain and #RE2PECT (the latter of which comes from a Nike campaign that paid homage to the shortstop). Although some people were less-than-thrilled by the attention Jeter's retirement has garnered, others were really sad to see him go. Farewell, Captain.

Apparently Kid

We live in a day and age where anyone can find 15 minutes of fame, and five-year-old Noah Ritter has already found his. Young Noah made waves a few weeks ago when he appeared on a live news broadcast to talk about his experience at the local fair. Apparently, he had a great time. Apparently, it was funny enough to score him a visit to "The Ellen Show." Apparently, he was given free VIP tickets to a Walking With Dinosaurs live show. Apparently, he's one lucky kid.

NFL Returns

Yesterday was kind of a big deal for football fans. It officially moved us from That Time Of The Year That's Dark and Sad to That Time Of The Year When Everything Is Right In The World (Because Football). Last night, the Seahawks beat the Packers during the first game of this year's NFL season. And it's gonna be a good one. The return of the NFL season means is great because of Fantasy Football and tailgating and these 48 other reasons (which you should totally read through). Here's to hoping this season provides plenty of fodder for a new NFL Bad Lip Reading video, because that's my go-to thing when the topic of football comes out and I really could use a video that's more recent than January 2014.
