This week, it’s movies and television talk, part two, as we delve into late-night switch-ups, a beloved movie critic, and the return of a fan favorite show.
Tonight Show Switch-up
Rumors started swirling earlier this week that Jimmy Fallon would be replacing Jay Leno and take over "The Tonight Show" gig on NBC. The two released a cheeky video that didn’t really confirm nor deny the rumors (at left), but NBC confirmed on Wednesday that yes, Jay Leno would be stepping down from his late-night hosting gig to make room for Jimmy Fallon. "The Tonight Show" will also be moving back to NYC to its old home at 30 Rock. Jimmy Fallon said, " I’m really excited to host a show that starts today instead of tomorrow." (Get it? Because his current show starts after midnight?) Hopefully this sticks, because I love Jimmy — but I also know we’ve totally heard this before when Conan O’Brien took over Leno’s show and then had the hosting gig taken away. So I guess we’ll see!

Ryan Gosling quits acting
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that yesterday's video about Ryan Gosling Staring at Things was up at HuffPo because of Gosling's recent announcement: he's breaking up with us. Well, actually, he's taking a break from acting, but this definitely feels like a break-up, and it is not mutual. What did I ever do to deserve this misery? I guess I'm not entirely surprised by this news, since he's said before he's tired of looking at his own face. He also recently made his directorial debut with the film "How To Catch A Monster." But I still get to be bummed. In the meantime, I guess I'll just keep watching videos of him staring (see the one at left for his impressive work in "Drive"). It's spriiiing! So, naturally, everyone's talking about March Madness. Also: apparently, we will never, ever, ever be over the '90s. Ever.
March Madness
I don’t know much about March Madness, except that it relates to picking which Division I team will win NCAA Men’s/Women’s Division I Basketball Championship. That is the extent of my knowledge, and I’m not going to lie, I had to look it up on Wikipedia for the specifics. That said, I know it’s a huge deal for basketball and sports fans. Even the president gets in on it, with his March Madness picks. For me, March Madness is all about the other brackets — like the ones to determine the best breakfast cereal or try to figure out if the ‘80s or the ’90s were the superior decade. Pixar’s video (left) of "Monsters University" teammates reacting to being excluded from the March Madness picks is super cute, too.

This week we loved a day dedicated to desserts (duh), a movie about a young Nancy Drew-esque character, and an unofficial holiday that should totally become an official holiday.
Pi(e) Day
Yesterday was 3/14… AKA the first three digits of pi. Around the world, that’s celebrated as Pi Day! (See the video at left for a pretty cool tribute to Pi Day using dominoes.) You probably haven’t thought about pi (or “π”) since high school math class when you learned that pi is the the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — and then promptly forgot it. No matter, Pi Day is an excuse to eat delicious pie! There’s even a website dedicated exclusively to Pi Day, so avid fans can buy merchandise and try to memorize the number that’s been calculated to more than one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. For me, I’ll pass, but I will take a slice of apple pie. Yum.

Swift/Poehler/Fey Feud
I mentioned it briefly earlier this week, but it’s quickly become "a thing" that everyone is weighing in on. Back in January, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler — AKA comedy royalty — poked fun at Taylor Swift and her dating record. (See video at left.) In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Taylor’s response to the joke was, "There is a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women." She didn’t outright say Tina and Amy were going to be punished for eternity for that one joke, but then again she kind of did. Whoops.
