This week's spotlight goes to one class act, one currently popular pop artist, and one classic rocker:

Christian Bale Visits Shooting Victims

Actor Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the latest movie trilogy, on Tuesday visited victims of the movie theater shooting in Aurora, CO. Bale spent over two hours at the Medical Center of Aurora, visiting with the patients, before heading to a memorial near the location of the shooting. This wasn't something Bale had to do, of course, but he did it anyway. And that makes him a great guy in my book.

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" Beats Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"

Love it? Hate it? Doesn't matter, because apparently people like it enough that it's reached its seventh week at #1 on the singles charts. It has now displaced Lady Gaga's 2011 hit "Born This Way," which was on the chart for six weeks. It is not, however, a record for time spent at #1, as some sites are suggesting. That record is held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men, with their 1995 song "One Sweet Day," which was at that position for 16 weeks. So "Call Me Maybe" still has a mountain to climb, figuratively, before it gets to the top.
