NHL Hockey is Finally Back! Well, Preseason Hockey at Least

If you hadn't noticed, the NHL dropped the puck on its 2014 preseason schedule this week with games beginning last Sunday. It's the time of year that hockey fans have been waiting for since the Los Angeles Kings lifted the Stanley Cup last June. In celebration of the start of the preseason, I thought it would be nice to watch the Top 10 plays of last season with the help of the good folks at "SportsCentre." Yes, "SportCentre" - the Canadian version of ESPN's "SportsCenter." With them being a show from Canada, I'm going to trust their judgement on these.

Any plays they missed?

As you may of heard, the legendary (I use that term loosely) soft drink Surge is once again available for purchase and internet kind of exploded. The beverage, only available through Amazon.com, sold out by 11 a.m. on Monday. Luckily for everyone, they quickly restocked their inventory.

The citrus flavored drink found its way into hearts and lunchboxes of millions until it was discontinued in 2001. If Hi-C were smart, they would release Ecto Cooler to the masses again before 2014 is over to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original film. I can dream.

What People Are Talking About

Apparently Kid

We live in a day and age where anyone can find 15 minutes of fame, and five-year-old Noah Ritter has already found his. Young Noah made waves a few weeks ago when he appeared on a live news broadcast to talk about his experience at the local fair. Apparently, he had a great time. Apparently, it was funny enough to score him a visit to "The Ellen Show." Apparently, he was given free VIP tickets to a Walking With Dinosaurs live show. Apparently, he's one lucky kid.

Eastern Michigan Football vs. a Brick Wall: Who Ya Got?

The Eastern Michigan Eagles football team opened their season on Saturday and wanted to make a big entrance in front of their home fans by sledgehammering a brick wall during pregame introductions. Unfortunately, it was a failed effort. Apparently, the organizers of this entrance did not take into account that brick walls are actually pretty tough to knock down.
