Waiting for The Beach Boys
A couple weekends ago, I took a few days off from work to head down to Manchester, TN, for my first Bonnaroo. In fact, it was my first ever music festival, so I kind of dived into things head first. I went because Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beach Boys, and Mogwai were going to be there, but I also used it as an opportunity to discover bands I hadn't heard of before, so that I might expand my playlist.
Coming from a first-timer's perspective, I must say that this Bonnaroo was run extremely well. The band selection was excellent, the venue was (mostly) clean, and everybody was really friendly. Not having been to a festival before, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but now that I've been there, I'm sorry it had to end.

The first half of last night's game was dominated by the Heat leading by as many as 17 points, but just like what has been the case so many times in this postseason, that lead evaporated in the second half. Thanks to Kevin Durant, the Thunder stormed back to get the lead down to two with just seconds remaining. Unfortunately for the Thunder, that was as close as they would get, as Durant missed a game-tying shot attempt, due in part to a missed foul call by the officials.
With the series now shifting to the American Airlines Arena in Miami, ticket prices have started to decline for the match-up in Game 3. In just two days, the average listed price on TicketNetwork.com has dropped by $21, and it could continue to decline as the game gets closer.

Coming off of a hard-fought Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics, no one would have been surprised if the Heat started a little slow yesterday. Instead, they came out hot, taking a 54-47 lead on the well-rested Thunder into halftime. The second half, on the other hand, was a completely different story.
Thanks to Durant, the Thunder dominated the Heat in the third and fourth quarters, outscoring them 58-40. Durant finished the game with 36 points, 17 of which came in the fourth quarter. Russell Westbrook chipped in 27 points along with 11 assists and 8 rebounds, while Nick Collison came off the bench to contribute 8 points and 11 rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.

Fenway Park in Boston is continuing its annual summer concert series this year with two classic artists. On Friday, Bruce Springsteen announced that he is heading to Fenway on August 14 as part of his Wrecking Ball Tour. Roger Waters, currently on his The Wall Live Tour, also has a scheduled a concert at the park on July 1.
Springsteen's announcement brings things full circle, as he was the first artist scheduled to play a show at the park when it began hosting concerts on September 6, 2003, but he wasn't actually the first to appear at the park. Here's a quick look at the highlights:
1999 - Limp Bizkit
That's right, Limp Bizkit was actually the first band to perform at the park, albeit without permission. On Sunday, June 13, 1999, the band climbed atop the roof of the Fenway parking garage and proceeded to play a 5-song set before the unauthorized concert was discovered by police. By the time authorities got to the park, 1,500 fans had flocked to see the band play, creating a traffic jam.

A few weeks ago, Tim suggested that I should do a blog post about the best Broadway songs. It sounded fun, so I agreed...and soon realized just how difficult the task would be. I ended up settling on my favorite Broadway soundtracks, so that I could cheat a little bit and include more awesome songs. Here's my list, in no particular order:
Les Miserables
This is one of the most powerful shows ever written. I saw it for the first time just a few months ago, and it was a very intense and emotional experience. It helps that there is almost no dialogue; the entire show is music, which is amazing. This video is of the finale of the 25th anniversary concert version of the show; the video is about 11 minutes long...including 3 minutes of standing ovation at the end. Shows you just how great this show is.
