Win free concert tickets! What concert do you NEED to see?

View Comments(61)

Update (9/17/12): We have a new contest running in celebration of our fifth anniversary. Please click here to enter.

Enter to Win 2 Free Concert Tickets to a concert of your choice by answering the question: What concert do you want to see and why do you NEED to be there?

If I said you could potentially win free concert tickets, would you be interested? What if I asked you why you need to be at a certain concert, what would you say?

Win FREE Concert Tickets

Well, here is your chance to answer both of those questions with the newest TN Team Blog contest!

How it works

In 100 words or less, tell us in the comments section of this blog post who you want to see in concert and why you absolutely, positively, no-way-around-it, NEED to be there in person. Your submission can be funny, it can be heartfelt, it can just be a story on why you are the artist or group's biggest fan…it doesn't matter, you decide! What matters most is that you are creative.

The contest will run for two weeks, from today, August 8, through Sunday, August 21. The winner will be chosen at the end of the contest by our crack team at the TN Team Blog. The winner will receive two tickets to the concert of their choice, which carry a maximum value on TicketNetwork.com of $400, and will be notified via the e-mail address that was used as part of the submission.

Those are the basics, so start submitting and let us know why you NEED to win these free tickets!

Contest Over, Thanks for Submitting! But click the banner below for our latest contest!

BONUS!! If we are able to get 100 entries to our contest, we will also include a $100 gift card to a restaurant local to the concert venue or a $100 gift card to TicketNetwork.com. But we need your help to make this happen! Let your friends know: take it to Twitter and help us spread the word by tweeting: (Click the following to tweet it!)

"RT @TicketNetwork Enter to win free concert tickets on the TN Blog - http://bit.ly/tnfreetix"

Rules*

As with any contest, there are of course some ground rules to follow.

  1. There is a limit 1 entry per household. If more than one entry is submitted, only the first submission will count, so don't waste your time submitting multiples.
  2. Any submissions that include inappropriate language will be disqualified without notification.
  3. The concert chosen must take place between October 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011. If the concert you want to see doesn't fall between those dates, don't worry! You can choose to receive a TicketNetwork.com gift card that carries the maximum value of $400 instead.
  4. Entrant must use a valid e-mail address. We need it to contact you, so please make sure you use an active e-mail account!

* To view the full legal details and rules, visit the Contest Rules Page.

PLEASE READ: Each submission will need to be approved by us BEFORE it will be posted on the site. If you don't see your submission initially, don't worry, it will be posted shortly thereafter.

I have to go see Hanson. Now you're probably laughing! Hanson? Those guys with the hair from 1997. Yup, the very same! Only now, fourteen years older, much more grown up, and incredibly awesome! I would love to attend a couple of the shows on their upcoming Musical Ride Tour and need TicketNetwork's help to do it! A contest like this would pretty much be the only way I’d be able to go, so I'm also not above begging. PLEASE?! Smile  Oh, and thank you too.

I would love to see Toby Keith on 9/16/2011.  It's my little brother's 25th birthday and as of right now, we don't have tickets.  He’s a HUGE fan & works so hard and I would love to be able to give him that show as a birthday present.  He's come a long way in a few years and I'd love to show him how proud I am of him.  He had to miss Brad Paisley in June to help family move ,this would be a great concert to see as well.  He’s a great kid and deserves a great birthday

So there's this guy named Enrique Iglesias I've been listening to for like 12 years and you'd think I'd be sick of the songs but every time I hear the first synth chord of "Rhythm Divine" my voice jumps 16 octaves and I start squealing unintelligibly. I think such adult behavior would really bring a certain classy aesthetic to one of his live shows, don't you? Plus, if I "win" the tickets, my boss will think that's cool and let me leave work early to drive to GA for the show.

I wanted to submit a paragraph explaining why I'd want to go to a concert that's coming up in September, but then I saw the rules and got sad. I don't know of any band that's coming around after October. But, here's why I'd want to see Motion City Soundtrack/Jenny Owen Youngs in September:

I want to see Motion City Soundtrack with Jenny Owen Youngs in NY this September because MCS is one of my favorite bands. I have their first album title tattooed on my left forearm. Their music speaks to me and I relate to it incessantly. I recently started listening to Jenny Owen Youngs, and fell in love with her music, as well. They both have a great energy that translates well to a live show. I’ve seen MCS before, but not JOY. I’d love to see both of them together. I know it’d be a great show.

I choose Justin Bieber. Why?  Because my 17 year old daughter, Sarah, can't get enough of him!  Posters, books, magazines, t-shirts, even his perfume..she has to have it all.  Me?  I only need her love and adoration.  I know...I am her mother and already have that.  But think of how I would feel if I could give my daughter, who does not really ask for much that does not concern Justin, tickets to see him in concert.  In the flesh. Live.  If you were me, wouldn't you be asking for the same thing?

I've never been to a concert, but would love to take my mom to a Toby Keith or Trace Adkins concert, or especially one where they perform together. We love them, especially because they are so patriotic, and being a military family, we really appreciate all that they do for our troops around the world. My mom works so hard at home to take care of our family through all of the packing, moving, and school transfers so that my dad can focus on his job in the Navy. I'd love to take mom to a concert, she deserves it!

I need to see Taylor Swift perform in New Jersey this fall for the simple reason that I am a 14 year old trapped in a 32 year old's body. The concert will be filled with hundreds of squealing preteens and their moms, which will make it all the more fun to drag my hard rock fan of a husband into the aisles to dance.

The artist id like to see in concert is the magnificent Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music. I’m a big fan of Roxy Music and was in love with Bryan Ferry because of his dashing looks.  The music that he produced while working with Roxy was underrated and brilliant during the 70’s and early 80’s. I think it’s a rare event that he’s even touring in the US since he usually stays close to his fan base in Europe. I’m almost certain that If I don’t get to see him now ill never get to see him live since he’s aging and will most likely retire from the music business a few years from now. Its one of those “I need to see before its too late kind of thing”.

The concert that i absolutely have to go to is chris brown. Not too many r&b singers can be young and become famouse and still sound original. I think he is one of the few people in our generation who will continue singing and become a veteran. Yes Chris has made his mistakes- but so does every other human. The fact that he admitted to his mistake and broke down on national tv made me think of him as not so much of a celebrity but more as a man.

I really want to see Don Williams.  I've been a fan for years and I've never had the opportunity to see him in concert. His concert is only two weeks away, not within the required time frame but he's the only one I really want to see.

I NEED to see Josh Groban in concert. I went a few years ago and loved it. But the real reason I NEED to be there is because I have had a really, really bad year. I have had health problems, been laid off and just generally been difficult to live with/support (emotionally). Through it all, my mother, Josh Groban's biggest fan (of course), has been there for me. I wish I could have purchased tickets for her but financially it was impossible.

So, while it is not necessary for me to see Josh Groban, I would love to be able to gift my mother with those tickets. She says that his music helps her to feel a connection with my father who died 11 years ago and my sister who died 24 years ago.

LADY GAGA....she's the concert, hands down. That girl has got the IT factor. I am older than dirt  She is the first performer for a long time that I sat up and took notice and said I want to see LADY GAGA in concert. She not only is a great singer, performer, she has the guts to walk the talk, standing up for what she preaches!

If I can see anyone in concert at all, it would have to be Jay-Z and Kanye West in Montreal. I am going to be there in November for vacation and I would love to brush the dirt off my shoulders while watching the 2 best rappers in the world. I have 99 problems, but being negative isn't one because I even though I live a hard knock life, I feel young forever and have an empire state of mind. I can touch the sky, but I'm not a gold digger. No one can't tell me nothing because I am getting stronger everyday. (I used their song titles several times through my response. Can you find them all?)

My all-time fave concert is Weird Al Yankovic for many, many reasons.  first, he made it cool to be different.  More important to me though is that I'm friends with one of the members of the band and I haven't seen him since I moved across country.  Great show + tons of hugs and good times with a great friend = wonderful, awesome evening!

When I first attended a Fleet Foxes show I'd never heard of them-- nor a note-- though clearly many had. Spaceland was packed. Word had traveled re: their P4rk review. Seemed everyone with ears on the eastside of LA had circled on the club clambering to check out these 9.0 Seattle boys. I was lucky. I was friends with the door girl; I made it in. It was a balmy June night outside. Inside it was sweaty, claustrophobic and patchouli-y.  Wasn't a spot in the room where I'd be able to see shit.  Lucky, again, my friend in the sound booth nodded me up and let me kneel on a stool.  Sometimes it sucks to be a girl. Sometimes it don't.  Little lead singer crept out onto the stage. Bearded boys and men followed him and gathered their tools. Without so much as a word from any of them, that would give a clue you might want to buckle up--the most deeply considered, other-worldly, crystalline music consumed, ravished, and flayed wide the thick air, raining down nothing I could never have anticipated.  I closed my eyes the entire set to better witness the pyrotechnics. Something inside of me broke open and was healed again. Something scattered like a flock of crows.  I managed not to fall off the stool.  Afterwords, I tried not to feel like an ass when it became apparent mid conversation that the gentleman I was talking to (J. Tillman) was in fact IN the band. "I'm sorry," I said, "I had my eyes closed the whole time." I had wanted to take in what I was hearing and never let it go. Wanted it leave it's seed in me. I wanted it to suck me under in the deep. I wanted to suffer a sea-change because of it. I didn't want to open my eyes and not be kneeling penitent on that stool forever.  These days my luck has run out. And those sweet Seattle boys must be getting tired. They are coming to the city of Lost Angels one more time.  Before I pack up and leave there, I'd love to see them one more time.

But I can't promise I'll keep my eyes open.

most sincerely,
lisa
