After just two weeks of the NFL season, we have already seen some record-breaking performances. Tom Brady has already thrown for 940 yards, the most ever to start a season and just shy of the NFL record for most yards in consecutive games. He helped lead the Patriots to victory over the Chargers, 35-21, in what was our top Week 2 game.
Whose record of most passing yards to start a season did Brady break? The answer is rookie Panthers QB Cam Newton, who set the record just hours before in his game against the Packers.
This week, teams hope to have record-breaking performances of their own and judging by some of the match-ups, there should be plenty of opportunities. Here is a look at our Week 3 NFL Game Power Rankings:
1. Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers
Average Ticket Price: $282.20
The Bears-Packers rivalry is the longest rivalry in the NFL and only got more heated after the two played in last season's NFC Championship game, which the Packers won on their way to their Super Bowl victory. Soldier Field is less than a four-hour drive from Green Bay, so plenty of Packers fans will probably be making the trip down to the "Windy City" for this one.
2. Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants
Average Ticket Price: $193.05
The Eagles make their 2011 home debut in this game, and it's against their most heated rival, the New York Giants. There are doubts about Michael Vick's availability to play in the game (concussion), but that won't stop this from being one of the biggest games of the week.
3. New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans
Average Ticket Price: $158.04
The Saints always draw a raucous crowd to the Louisiana Superdome and will once again in Week 3. They welcome the Texans to town this week, a team that finally looks like the playoff team everyone thought they would be the past few seasons.
4. Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Average Ticket Price: $156.12
If Peyton Manning were playing, the placement of this game would make sense. Colts fans must have bought tickets to this one before knowing the severity of Manning's injury, because the team has looked awful in the first two weeks. The Steelers defense is probably licking their chops.
5. Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins
Average Ticket Price: $144.51
This must be rivalry week in the NFC East as the Redskins take on the Cowboys in Big D, complementing our No. 2 ranked Eagles-Giants game. Tony Romo punctured his lung last week against the 49ers but came back to play. His status is uncertain for Sunday, and if he doesn't play the Cowboys chances of winning will be uncertain as well.
6. Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals
Average Ticket Price: $95.56
Surprised to see this game so high? Don't be. Despite what is sure to be a boring game with two inept offenses, Seahawks fans always turn out for their team.
7. Tennessee Titans vs. Denver Broncos
Average Ticket Price: $90.33
The Titans made their fans feel a lot better about their chances this season with a convincing win over the Ravens last week. The question for all those in the stands on Sunday will be: can they follow it up with a win against the Broncos?
8. Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Francisco 49ers
Average Ticket Price: $87.27
Rookie QB Andy Dalton is playing better than expected for the Bengals, throwing for three touchdowns and no interceptions in his first two games in the NFL. He could have another good game this weekend against the 49ers, who currently rank 25th in the league against the pass.
9. Oakland Raiders vs. New York Jets
Average Ticket Price: $86.69
Oakland is never an easy place to play, and the Jets will find out all about that this weekend. The Jets have looked impressive the first two weeks of the season but will be put to the test the next three weeks with every game on the road, including a Week 5 game against the Patriots.
10. Cleveland Browns vs. Miami Dolphins
Average Ticket Price: $85.03
Despite their struggles since they rejoined the NFL in 1999, the Browns have some of the most passionate fans in the league. The Browns want to go 2-1 to start the season for the first time since 2002.
11. St. Louis Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens
Average Ticket Price: $81.29
The Rams are battling through early season injuries and won't have it any easier against the hard-hitting Ravens. The Ravens will be looking to rebound from a disappointing loss last week against the Titans.
12. Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots
Average Ticket Price: $78.74
If you were to switch this game to Foxboro, the game would rank much higher on the list. The Bills gave up 428 passing yards to the Raiders last week, and Tom Brady threw for 423 yards against the Chargers. If I had to bet, I would say Brady may have a few passing yards this week.
13. San Diego Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Average Ticket Price: $76.57
If you have a Chargers player on your fantasy team, make sure they are in your line-up this week. The Chiefs have given up a league-leading 89 points this season, while scoring a league-low 10 points.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons
Average Ticket Price: $71.09
Despite a 1-1 record, Matt Ryan and the Falcons have had a disappointing start to the season considering they were picked by some to win the Super Bowl. It doesn't get any easier for them as they visit the Buccaneers this week.
15. Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions
Average Ticket Price: $66.20
Just a few short years ago, Vikings fans could count on the win when they played the Lions. Not anymore. The Lions have been one of the best teams in the early part of the season and look like a team to be reckoned with all season.
16. Carolina Panthers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Average Ticket Price: $54.45
Cam Newton became the first quarterback to start off his career with consecutive games of 400 passing yards. Unfortunately that hasn't led to any wins for the Panthers. Their game against the Jags this week may be their best chance at a win for a while.
