Great news! According to MTV News the Red Hot Chili Peppers are returning to the road early next year for their first U.S. tour in more than four years, in support of their latest album I'm With You. The first tour date will be on January 25 in Charlotte, NC. The tour will run for six shows; however, it is possible that more concerts will be announced in a couple weeks.

The tour actually started earlier this year with a few warm-up dates in California and, following a handful of promotional concerts, the band toured South America and Europe. The I'm With You Tour follows a four-year hiatus after non-stop work on Californication, By The Way, and Stadium Arcade, and their associated tours.

If past tour dates are any indication, the upcoming concerts should be heavy on songs from I'm With You, Stadium Arcade, By the Way, Californication, and Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and perhaps have some goodies from early RHCP album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan.

The band hasn't been on the radar for awhile, so I'm guessing that more tour dates are a very good bet. Stay tuned for updates.

Update 12/5/11: As predicted, the band has just announced new dates, which have been added below.
