Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers announced a slate of new tour dates today, including eight in the United States. The stateside tour will begin on April 19 in Broomfield, CO, and wrap up on May 5 in Austin, TX. Petty and co. will also play a set at next year's New Orleans Jazz Festival. After they're finished in the U.S., the band will head to Europe.
The band didn't give any indications that more tour dates will be announced. There isn't a lot of leeway between the U.S. and European dates to add more, which is probably why, but it's still a possibility. If not, perhaps more will be scheduled after the band is done in Europe; stay tuned for more information.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers last ran a tour in 2010, and the band was one of the top twenty performers of 2010, based on ticket sales data from the TicketNetwork Exchange*. Given that, and the long time since the previous tour, they ought to do well. The current U.S. tour dates are listed below.
