June's Top 10 Events: The Eagles' "History" tour helps them rise to the top

June's Top 10 Events

As we go into the Independence Day weekend, it's hard to think of a band on this list as more of an American music tradition than The Eagles. It is true, as I wrote last month, that country music is the top genre in most of the nation, but I doubt Luke Byan comes up on the Top 20 (or 10) list of classic artists. The same is also true of the other American artist on the list, Bruno Mars. They may yet become legends in their own right, but at the moment they're too new. When it comes to all-things American, The Eagles is a long-standing tradition like baseball and fireworks (even though it's actually a Chinese invention).

It is therefore fitting that they should take the #1 spot for June's Top 10 Events list. The "History of The Eagles" tour kicks off on Saturday, July 6, in Louisville, KY, and fans have been claiming the tickets in droves. During the month of June, the city for which Eagles fans most purchased tickets at TicketNetwork.com was Dallas, TX. The Eagles will have two concerts at American Airlines Arena on October 11 and 12. The Dallas shows were among the ones the band announced on May 30. Sales for this city far outstripped any others, and there's quite a bit of time to go before October 11, so it will likely do even better as the date approaches.

Other than the Eagles' good month, most of the other performers or shows on the list are long-time members (at least during 2013), with the exception of Michael Bublé, who is on the list for the first time ever.

* Rankings and other data are as of 7/3/2013 10:00 a.m. EDT. Top 10 list is ranked based by the number of tickets sold on TicketNetwork.com.
