Please Note: Spoilers for the last three seasons of "The Walking Dead" ahead.
Are you ready for the next season of "The Walking Dead" to premiere tonight? I am. Give me back my zombie show! I need more Daryl, Glenn, and Maggie in my life. But as much as I love "The Walking Dead," I know it can oscillate between "OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST" (I am still gutted over the loss of Sophia) and "Wow, seriously? I'm angry that just sucked so much" (the unnecessary death of Andrea).
Last season was especially trying. There was an anti-climactic ending to the Woodbury storyline (some argue that the Governor not being dead adds intrigue, but I say he was totally unhinged and needed to go); my darling, Andrea, was killed off in the worst way possible (seriously, I have a lot of feelings about this, so please don't get me started); and now they've got a whole new group of people from Woodbury to take care of in the group.
So here are five wishes I have going into season four.
Kill the governor
Please. After what he did to Maggie, how he treated Michonne, and the way he left Andrea to die? This man needs to go.
Beth has been part of the group for an entire season now, while Carol has been in the group since day one. Yet we know nothing about them compared to characters like Hershel, Rick, and Daryl. I'd like to learn more about the core group before we start learning about this new group. Also: I'd love to learn more about Michonne. Even if there aren't organic ways to do this in the current timeline, maybe utilize some flashbacks. (See: "Lost.")
Don't kill Tyreese and Sasha
It would be nice to have some well developed black characters on the show that aren't either 1) dead immediately (See: Big Tiny; Andrew) or 2) dead eventually with no back story (See: T-Dog). While we're at it, if the characterization of the female characters would be one iota as complex as the characterization as the male characters, that would be really awesome.
No more singing
Seriously, writers, Beth does not need to have another long, drawn-out, "Kumbaya" moment. Please. I beg of you. Also, why not toss no more "ghost visions" on the list as well?
Last season, we saw a lot of people drama. I like that, but I also love zombie drama. I don't need the zombie kills to be crazier and more over-the-top than the last, but I do want them to be there. This is a zombie apocalypse show, after all.
What are you hoping for this season?
