Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber Retires? Or He Doesn't. What?

Among a heavy campaign promoting his new album and movie this week, Justin Bieber came out with the announcement of his retirement. Can it be? As I discussed yesterday, probably not, but with so much happening this week it's a good way to get into another news cycle. Never underestimate the effect of a bit of decent marketing. Meanwhile, the film, which documents Bieber's most recent Believe Tour, has opened to mixed reviews.

Doctor Who Ends One Era and Starts a New One

Don't worry, fellow Whovians, no spoilers of this week's episode here. The classic British show, which in recent years has also gained a lot of popularity in the U.S., has been busy over the last month. On November 23, the show celebrated its 50th anniversary with a whopper of an episode, featuring not one, not two, not three, not eleven, but all thirteen incarnations of the eponymous character. And this week's Christmas special wrapped up the tenure of the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith. Now the series enters its next era, led by a significantly older actor, Peter Capaldi.

Merry Christmas

The Holidays

Christmas is now wrapped up — hope you got something nice and were able to spend some quality time with family and friends! — but the holiday season isn't over quite yet. New Years is coming and with it hopes for a great 2014. If you're looking for something to do in the run up to New Year's Day, there is still a couple days left to catch shows like Trans-Siberian Orchestra, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, before those shows end their tours or residencies. There are also a number of concert acts playing shows on New Year's Eve itself.

Have a Happy New Year, everyone!
