What People Are Talking About

Billy Joel performs "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

Billy Joel, who has been performing at Madison Square Garden, stopped by The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon last night. Jimmy Fallon, who I am convinced secretly wishes to be some kind of rock star (remember "Idiot Boyfriend"?), convinced Billy Joel they needed to sing together. But not just any song — "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Using a looper app on his phone, they created a two-person doo-wop group. The video starts slow, but the payoff is worth it.

Amazing Solve on Wheel of Fortune

Most people would have trouble solving a 12-word puzzle with only 2 letters as a hint. Apparently that's not the case for Emil, who only had an "N" and an "E" in his puzzle, and still managed to solve it with his first guess! Host Pat Sajack looked (rightfully) surprised by the solve. Emil told reporters he was studying pediatrics and just happened to have babies on the brain when he made the guess, which earned him an extra $45,000.

Jem and the Holograms Movie

In AMAZING NEWS, Scooter Braun (Justin Bieber's manager), Jon M. Chu (director of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation") and Jason Blum (producer of "Paranormal Activity") announced that they'll be creating a live-action version of "Jem and the Holograms." The creators hope to involve fans in the brainstorming process by asking them to contribute their ideas for the film via social media. While I can appreciate a weariness toward this nostalgia explosion going on right now, I am pretty excited about this film. There have been reboots for "Transformers," "G.I. Joe," and "Tron" — which are all so-called "boy" franchises — so "Jem and the Holograms" — an '80s "girl" franchise — is totally needed. Plus, it's JEM! And the HOLOGRAMS! The original Hannah Montana! I only vaguely remember this show from when I was a kid, but I know I loved it, and therefore I need this. Watch the full announcement here.
