What People Are Talking About

Orange is the New Black

Season two of "Orange is the New Black" was released today, and many are scrambling to binge on the entire season so they can avoid spoilers. As with all Netflix-produced shows, once a season is up, you can watch the entire thing all at once. It's a great feature if you want to watch the season at your leisure, without waiting week to week for new episodes; it's not-so-great when the internet ruins everything. A helpful reminder: when asking your friends if they've seen the new season, a simple "Have you watched the new 'Orange is the New Black' episodes yet?" will suffice. Don't say, "Oh my gosh, have you seen the episode where Piper dies?!" (BTW, Piper probably doesn't die.) It'll be tough navigating the internet spoiler-free for the next few weeks, so good luck out there.

The Fault in Our Stars

Released in theaters today, "The Fault in Our Stars" — TFIOS to fans — is based on the John Green novel of the same name. It's about two teenagers with cancer who fall in love. The young adult book was a huge success, and it's looking like the film will shape up to be one as well. Fandango announced that TFIOS has broken the record for the biggest pre-selling love story and the film's trailer on YouTube is the most "liked" trailer of all time (even more than the trailer for "One Direction: This is Us"). Fans are already lining up to see the movie. I haven't read the book, but if I had to guess, I would say this movie probably has a sad ending.

NHL/NBA Finals

This week, the Stanley Cup Final and the NBA Finals both began. In hockey, it's the Rangers vs. Kings, with Game 1 going to the latter. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile the NBA Finals started last night, featuring the same match-up as last year's game — Spurs vs. Heat. Last night, the Spurs beat the Heat, which goes right along with some of the predictions from yesterday's post (a must-read, really). While I already mentioned why I'll be supporting the Rangers, in basketball, I'm rooting for that guy who blew into LeBron James' ear, even though he's not in the finals at all, just because that video made me laugh for a really long time.
