What People Are Talking About

Weird Al Goes #1

Weird Al is generating so much buzz, he made this week AND last week's What People Are Talking About. Last week was really just the tip of the iceberg; then, Weird Al had released five music videos, three shy of the full eight he ultimately ended up posting. His strategy was incredibly successful. It keep him on everyone's mind for more than a week — no small feat these days, when something posted at 8 a.m. is "old news" by noon. More than that, his comedy album Mandatory Fun reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200, the first comedy album to do so since The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart in 1960. Pretty impressive.

50 Shades of Grey Trailer

The "50 Shades of Grey" trailer debuted this week. Love it or hate it, people are definitely talking about it. I'm most interested in the new version of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" which is the song from the trailer. It's a slowed down, kind of ominous version of the normally upbeat song; the singer posted an Instagram video (at left) that teased the film before the official trailer was released the next day. All I really want to know is: where can I listen to the full version of this song? Don't leave me hanging, Bey.

Miley Cyrus Hoax

Miley Cyrus is not dead, y'all. I repeat: Miley Cyrus is not dead. Despite that, there was a rumor going around this week that the singer had died. These types of hoaxes seem to happen every week, forming from different — but all equally uncredible — sources. In Miley's case, the story was fueled by the fact that Cyrus had gone quiet on her social media accounts, which fans took as confirmation that the rumor was true. But shortly after the story started circulating, Cyrus posted a bunch of photos on Instagram and went on Twitter to promote her cameo in Pharrell's new video, "Come Get it Bae" (see video above). It's all good, guys.
