A lavish theatrical extravaganza, Cirque du Soleil is not a typical circus. With gorgeous costumes, unique music, and amazing acrobatic acts, Guy Laliberte's Cirque du Soleil gives people the experience of a lifetime. Cirque du Soleil offers touring shows, resident theatre shows, and arena shows!
The first resident Cirque show, Mystere, debuted in 1993. Its enormous success led to O, a water show, which opened in 1998. As Cirque began to find its niche, so did the demand for new productions, and it was no surprise when Walt Disney World requested a show just for them! Based on fairy tales, La Nouba was created specifically for Walt Disney World in 1998. In 2003, Zumanity, the first Cirque du Soleil show intended for mature audiences, made its debut.
A year later, a story about imperial twins, Ka arrived in Las Vegas in 2004. Based on the music of the Beatles, The Beatles: Love opened in 2006. A seasonal winter show that opened in 2007, Wintuk played at Madison Square Garden for a limited time each year until 2011, and in 2008 Criss Angel: Believe debuted, starring magician Criss Angel. Most recently, Cirque du Soleil – Michael Jackson: One was announced. Located in Vegas, it pays tribute to the King of Pop. La Nouba characters include the Clowns, Balto and Serguei, and The Pierrot Rouge. Cirque fans love the story of The Pierrot Clown and Lost Ballerina, and children laugh at the silly antics of Les Cons. The Green Bird longs to fly as she watches the aerial acts, and Le Titan demonstrates his powerful muscles and contortionist skills.
Cirque du Soleil – The Beatles: Love
A resident theatre show, Cirque du Soleil – The Beatles: Love is located at The Mirage in Las Vegas. George Harrison and Guy Laliberté developed this show, appropriate for anyone who loves Beatles songs like "Octopus's Garden" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Characters come from The Beatles lyrics and include Sgt. Pepper, Lucy in the Sky, and Eleanor Rigby.
