The Toronto Blue Jays were first established in 1976, when on March 26 the American League awarded the franchise to Toronto. They made a successful debut in Toronto a year later as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox 9-5. It was that year behind players like Roberto Alomar, Jack Morris and Dave Winfield, the Toronto Blue Jays captured their first championship. But they were not done; they returned the following year and repeated that same feat thanks to the heroics of Joe Carter.
