The musical A Chorus Line originated from recorded workshop sessions of actual Broadway dancers, called "gypsies," discussing their lives and careers. With a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and choreography by Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line is arguably one of the greatest shows to have ever appeared on Broadway.
The plot of the show follows 17 dancers as they audition for just 8 positions in a Broadway dance ensemble. Songs like "I Hope I Get It," "One," and "What I Did for Love" will delight the audience as the characters reveal information about their personal lives, their families, friends, lovers, and their careers. Each dance number is more powerful than the last, and the excitement will build as the dancers near the end of auditions.
