After its original debut at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, it ran for approximately 530 performances and won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play. The name, A Raisin in the Sun, is taken from a line within a poem by Langston Hughes. Denzel Washington stars in Broadway's latest version of the play, which is directed by Kenny Leon. Previews begin on March 8, 2014 with the official opening taking place on April 3, 2014.
