About Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert was born on January 29, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lambert's early experience in entertainment came not from the recording studio but the stage. He starred in a production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at age 10 and Fiddler on the Roof at 12. These were followed by a string of musical roles throughout his teenage and young adult years. His last role before American Idol was as the understudy for Fiyero in the Los Angeles production of Wicked. Two years later Lambert made a life-changing decision: he would attempt to win American Idol.

In 2009, Lambert auditioned for Idol, singing "Rock with You" and "Bohemian Rhaspody," and was accepted to Hollywood. His weekly performances were regularly praised throughout the season and received positive feedback from the judges nearly every week. Although there was media speculation that Lambert would win the competition, that honor eventually went to Kris Allen, with Lambert coming in second place. Lambert capped off his time on American Idol by performing the Queen classic "We Are the Champions" with Allen and Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Following season 8 of American Idol, Lambert joined his fellow top 10 contestants for the American Idols Live tour. He also began work on his first album, For Your Entertainment, which debuted at #3 on November 23, 2009. The album's second single, "Whataya Want From Me," was released three days prior and has sold over a million copies. In early 2010, it was announced that the first Adam Lambert concerts will take place during the summer of 2010.
