Austin Mahone was born on April 4, 1996 in San Antonio, Texas. When he was just 16 months old, his father passed away, leaving him to be raised by a single mother. Like many young artists today, he was discovered through the music videos he and his best friend posted on YouTube. They began posting in 2010 and by August of 2012 Mahone announced that he had signed a recording deal with Universal Republic Records, Chase, Young Money Entertainment, and Cash Money Records. Even before he became a signed artist, Mahone had gained a large online fan base and released his first single "11:11" in early 2012. A second single called "Say Somethin" was released soon after.

In 2013, Mahone was named one of MTV's Artists to Watch for his single "What About Love" which was released in 2013. In May 2014, Mahone released his official second EP, The Secret, and announced a 21-date tour for the summer and fall of 2014. The Secret features his hit single, "Mmm Yeah" featuring Pit Bull. This teen pop sensation has gained fans from all over the world and his popularity continues to grow, making him add more dates to his tour as he goes.

Mahone has not only been in the recording studio as he was the face of Lil Wayne's TrukFit fashion line, and has appeared in multiple commercials.
