Bill Cosby was born on July 12, 1937, in West Philadelphia, PA. His first album, Bill Cosby Is a Very Funny Fellow...Right!, won him a large following, as did 1964's Grammy-winning I Started Out as a Child. The rising star landed a role in I Spy, an action television show that aired during the 1960s. In the early 1970s, Cosby was in the process of pursuing a Masters degree in education when he became involved with an educational public broadcast series entitled The Electric Company, which he starred in from 1971-1973. The next year, Cosby created an animated television series called "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids." The show had a very successful run, and Cosby used it as the subject of his doctoral dissertation in the mid-1970s.
In 1984, The Cosby Show debuted and became not only Cosby's greatest success to date, but also one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. Based on Cosby's own life, the show ushered in a new era of sitcoms and proved a show could feature a predominately African-American cast. After The Cosby Show ended, Bill embarked on a number of new projects including movies, documentaries, game shows, and books. Among other works, he appeared in I Spy Returns, Cosby, and Jack. His most recent comedy albums include 2004's The Bill Cosby Collection and 2008's State of Emergency and Keep Standing.
Cosby has remained committed to performing the same type of live shows that made him a star. So get your chance to see one of the world's most talented comedians as Bill Cosby takes the stage.
