Britney Spears Biography

In 1981, Britney Jean Spears was born in a town called Kentwood, Louisiana. Like Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan, she started out as a Disney child star. After performing on Star Search and attending the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City, Britney joined The New Mickey Mouse Club at age eleven. She spent two years as a Mouseketeer with Christina Aguilera and her future boyfriend, Justin. Admiring superstars like Mariah Carey, Billy Joel, and Whitney Houston, Spears wanted to be a singer, and she released her debut album, …Baby One More Time, in 1999 when she was seventeen years old.

Jive Records produced Oops!... I Did It Again the following year, and the songs "Lucky" and "Stronger" made Britney even more popular. She began dating Justin Timberlake from 'N Sync, and perhaps the last of her childhood ended when they broke up. No longer a school girl, she presented herself as a sexy icon with provocative clothing. In 2003, the star sang "Me Against the Music" at the NFL Kickoff and released In the Zone. Next, she married Jason Alexander in Las Vegas, but they annulled the wedding after two days. The single "Toxic" won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, and the artist began The Onyx Hotel Tour.

By this point, Britney was as famous as Gwen Stefani from No Doubt, Pink, and Beyonce, but her innocent persona was gone. After a 2004 wedding, she had two children with her husband, Kevin Federline. They filmed a reality tv show called Britney & Kevin: Chaotic and loved their babies, Sean Preston and Jayden James, yet the couple divorced in 2007. Overwhelmed by gossip and custody battles, Britney fell apart, shaving her head and leaving drug rehab programs. Despite the stress, Blackout won "Album of the Year" at the MTV Europe Music Awards and featured pop music favorites like "Gimme More" and "Piece of Me".

In 2008, the pop princess released Circus with tracks like "If U Seek Amy" and "Phonography". To promote the album, she hit the road with Girlicious, The Pussycat Dolls, and Big Apple Circus.
