Carly Rae Jepsen was born on November 20, 1985 in Mission, British Columbia to Alexandra and Larry Jepsen. After graduating high school, Jepsen studied musical theatre at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, British Columbia.
In 2007, Carley Rae Jepsen auditioned for the fifth season of the television show Canadian Idol. She placed third and toured Canada after the season ended with the second and first place contestants.
After the Canadian Idol tour wrapped up, Carly Rae Jepsen eventually landed a recording contract with MapleMusic Recordings and relocated to Vancouver. In September 2008, Carly Rae Jepsen released her debut album, Tug of War. As of June 2013, the album had sold 10,000 copies in Canada.
In 2011, Carly Rae Jepsen began work on her sophomore album, and in September of that year she released the single “Call Me Maybe.” Pop singer Justin Bieber tweeted about the song, and in the blink of an eye the track was a huge commercial success. The song topped charts in 18 countries, and in the United States it spent nine weeks at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 list. The popularity of the song put Carley Rae Jepsen tickets in high demand. In September 2012, Carly Rae Jepsen released her second album, Kiss.
In 2015, Carly Rae Jepsen released her third studio album, Emotion. The album featured popular tracks such as “I Really Like You” and “Run Away with Me.” In the album’s support, Carly Rae Jepsen will embark on a short tour that will take her to venues along the United States’ East Coast.
