KOOZA is a departure from some of the other Cirque shows, in that it is solidly a nod at the origins of Cirque du Soleil, the circus! KOOZA relies heavily on the art of clowning and acrobatic performance in KOOZA, and this emphasis makes it even more unique among other more recent Cirque du Soleil performances. The show is inspired by Middle Eastern culture, and is a more lighthearted Cirque production. Cirque du Soleil KOOZA is only making three tour stops in October, November, and January! They will be performing in Boston, MA in September and October, in Oxon Hill, MD in late October and November, and Atlanta, GA in January! With many dates and show times for Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA at these locations, you have many opportunities to see this fantastic example of Cirque's genius! The description of KOOZA from the Cirque du Soleil Official website is as follows: "KOOZA tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world. KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil…The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor. The Innocent's journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog. Between strength and fragility, laughter and smiles, turmoil and harmony, KOOZA explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power. The show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement."

According to Wikipedia, Guy Laliberte, founder of Cirque du Soleil, was born in Quebec City, Canada in 1959. He became interested in the performing arts in high school, and eventually joined up with a group of 20 stilt-walking street performers called "Fete Foraine de Baie-Saint-Paul." In 1983, the government of Quebec gave Laliberte a 1.5 million dollar grant to produce a show for Quebec's 450th anniversary celebration, which he called "Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil." Laliberte's vision for Cirque du Soleil (French for "Circus of the Sun") was a production that would combine the circus arts and street entertainment with dramatic lighting, original music, and extravagant costumes to achieve a high arts experience.
The first Cirque du Soleil production was a success, and earned Laliberte contracts for another year of performances. Despite some early financial difficulties, the success of early shows La Magie Continue (1986), Le Cirque Reinvente (1987), and Nouvelle Experience (1990) managed to keep Cirque afloat. Next came Fascination in 1992, which was a collage of the most popular acts from the previous Cirque du Soleil shows.
Also in 1992, Cirque du Soleil's longest-running show, Saltimbanco began. Saltimbanco (derived from the Italian for "to jump on a bench") was the first Cirque show to focus on a narrow theme; namely that of "cosmopolitan urbanism." There have been a string of touring Cirque du Soleil productions through the years. Alegria appeared in 1995, and was about the abuse of power and struggle for freedom. In 1996 came Quidam, which was a manifestation of a daydream. Dralion began touring in 1999, and was Asian-themed. Based on the myth of Icarus, Varekai was created in 2002. In 2005, a performance inspired by the painting "The Grand Parade: Portrait of the Artist as a Clown" appeared, called Corteo. Most recently, the Middle-Eastern inspired KOOZA hit the road in 2007.
Cirque du Soleil also offers up a number of resident shows. The first was called Mystere, which began in 1993 at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and was an exploration of the beginning of life in the universe. "O" (a phonetic spelling of the French word for "water") opened its doors at the Bellagio in Las Vegas in 1998, and was the first show of its kind to be performed in water. La Nouba was created for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in 1998, and was based on the concept of a fairy tale. In 2003, Zumanity, the first Cirque du Soleil show intended for mature audiences, began at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. KA, arrived at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 2004, and depicted the story of imperial twins. Lastly came a show called LOVE in 2006 at The Mirage in Las Vegas, which is based on the music of The Beatles.
Cirque du Soleil has been honored with numerous awards since its inception, including multiple Emmy Awards, Drama Desk Awards, and other prestigious international medals and awards. Over its fifteen years of existence, Cirque du Soleil has visited over 200 cities around the globe. It is estimated that over 80 million people have seen a Cirque du Soleil performance since 1984, and they keep coming back for more! TicketNetwork has the best selection of Cirque du Soleil tickets available now, so get your cheap tickets for Cirque du Soleil from TicketNetwork today!
