The Pulitzer Prize-winning Clybourne Park is a play written by Bruce Norris. A sequel of sorts to the legendary play A Raisin in the Sun written in 1959 by Lorraine Hansberry, Clybourne Park is based loosely on real-life events in which the characters face social and racial discords in two vast periods of time. The play first premiered at Playwrights Horizons in New York in February 2010, and it made its Broadway debut at the Walter Kerr Theatre in March 2012. Clybourne Park Plot Summary
Clybourne Park consists of two acts that are set in two different time periods, both exploring the racial issues that have plagued society for decades. Inspired by A Raisin in the Sun, the first act tells the story of a black family trying to buy a house from a white couple in a middle class Chicago neighborhood in 1959. Act II takes place 50 years later in the same house, but this time the situation is reversed.
