Motley Crue is a heavy metal hair band that was formed in 1981 by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Mick Mars, and singer Vince Neil. Though Motley Crue underwent several lineup changes through the years, all four founding members are back with the band today. After the release of their first single, "Stick to Your Guns/Toast of the Town," Motley Crue became famous almost overnight. Though the single was a success, the band's popularity was also partially due to a string of publicity stunts they pulled on their "Cruesing Through Canada Tour '82."
Fans began buying up tickets to see the infamous Motley Crue perform hits like "Girls, Girls, Girls," "Dr. Feelgood," and "Without You." Motley Crue enjoyed a long reign of success until the mid-nineties, when turmoil amongst the band members began to drive them apart. Due to the overwhelming support of their fans, Motley Crue came back stronger than ever in 2004 for a reunion tour. Motley Crue has since returned to the studio for their first original album in ten years, Saints of Los Angeles, which was released in June of 2008.
In a press conference on April 15, 2008, Motley Crue announced Crue Fest for the first time. Crue Fest 2008 featured rock and roll bands like Sixx:A.M., Buckcherry, Papa Roach, and Trapt. Motley Crue intends for Crue Fest to be around for years to come and aspires for it to evolve into an Ozzfest-like phenomenon.
Of Crue Fest, Motley Crue reports, "We've been wanting to do this forever." The band has finally gotten their chance and will be bringing the rock and roll lifestyle to cities across North America. Bassist Nikki Sixx commented, "There's not a lot Motley Crue hasn't done, so to say this summer's festival is going to be about rock and roll excess is an understatement." No matter what Crue Fest turns out to be, those who purchase Crue Fest tickets are sure to be in for an exciting night of rock and roll greatness!
