
Cyrano de Bergerac was originally a play written by Edmond Rostand, which premiered in 1897 in France. The story has been adapted into numerous theatre and film productions, as well as a book and several operas. One popular adaptation was a Hollywood film titled Roxanne (1987) that starred Steve Martin as Cyrano de Bergerac and Daryl Hannah as Roxanne. Cyrano de Bergerac is a French playwright and soldier with an enormous nose.
