About the Detroit Tigers

Home Stadium: Comerica Park

Seating Capacity:41,255
Address:2100 Woodward Avenue
Detroit, MI 48201

Since 1901, Detroit Tigers baseball has been a staple of the Motor City. Along with other Detroit sports franchises – the Red Wings, Pistons and Lions – the Tigers help make up one of the greatest sports towns in the country.

Every season, the team competes in one of the toughest divisions in baseball, the American League Central Division. Over the years, the Tigers have had some tough games versus the likes of the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals. But, of all the teams in the Central Division, it's the Detroit Tigers who can say they have the most World Series championships, with four to their name. Their latest World Series title came in 1984 behind the double-play combination of Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker. They, along with pitcher Jack Morris, helped lead the Tigers to the win in Major League Baseball's biggest series.

Detroit Tigers baseball has always been about winning. Five times the franchise has won over 100 games in a season, with the best in recent years being 2011 when the Tigers won a total of 95 games. They went all the way to the World Series that baseball season before losing to the St. Louis Cardinals. Just six years following that appearance in the World Series, the Tigers returned to the "Fall Classic" once again in 2012. Unfortunately, they fell short once again, this time to the San Francisco Giants.

The franchise continues to build towards a World Series crown, this season they will be lead by triple crown winner Miguel Cabrera as well as ace pitcher Justin Verlander.
