Ed Sheeran began his music career in earnest in 2005, at first playing small gigs in London venues, and opening for UK-based acts, as well as producing several independently-released EPs. In 2010, Sheeran released several videos on YouTube, and in 2011 released his most successful EP to date, No. 5 Collaborations Project.
After being signed to Asylum and Atlantic Records later that year, he released his debut single "The A Team" in June 2011. His debut album, + was released that September, and became the second best selling album of 2011. In 2012, Sheeran supported Snow Patrol on its U.S. tour and joined Taylor Swift as the opening act for all North American dates of her "Red Tour" in 2013. In June 2014, Sheeran released his second album X.
In addition to his own music, Sheeran has collaborated as a writer on tracks for several other artists, including "Moments," "Over Again", and "Little Things" with One Direction. He also co-wrote "Everything Has Changed" with Swift.
