Guitarist Gary Clark, Jr. was born on February 15, 1984 in Austin, TX. Growing up in the Texas capital, Clark, Jr. began playing guitar at the age of 12 and shortly after began performing small gigs in the area, which he continued doing through his teenage years. Eventually, Clark, Jr. met Clifford Antone, founder of the blues club Antone’s and the owner of an independent record label. Antone served as a mentor to many prominent musicians, such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan. Thanks to Antone’s assistance, Clark, Jr. was soon playing gigs with well-known artists, including Jimmie Vaughn.
Clark, Jr. released his debut album, 110 and second album, Worry No More on an independent record label in 2004 and 2008, respectively. Although neither album reached spots on music charts, in 2012 Clark, Jr. released his third album, Blak and Blu , which peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 album chart and number one on the Blues Albums chart. The album netted him two Grammy Award nominations, one of which he won for Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Please Come Home”). Since then, Gary Clark Jr. tickets have been a hot time for music fans.
In 2015, Gary Clark, Jr. is serving as the opening act for a handful of the Foo Fighters’ shows as they tour the country. Clark, Jr. will also be releasing his second album under Warner Bros.
