The Broadway production of God of Carnage is set in Brooklyn, New York. The play starts off simply, one couple visiting the home of another to discuss a playground fighting incident between their sons. Alan Raleigh (Daniels) is a corporate lawyer who spends most of the play stuck to his cell phone with the pharmaceutical company he represents. His wife Annette (Davis) is allegedly in wealth management. Michael Novak (Gandolfini) is a wholesaler of household appliances with a sick mother. Veronica (Harden), his wife, is interested in the arts and has written a book about the tragedy in Darfur. Though the night starts off civilly, it isn't long before the couples are shouting at each other, trading alliances, and chasing each other around the couch.
A play by French playwright Yasmina Reza, it originally opened in Zürich, Switzerland in December 2006. Reza is the creator of previous Broadway hits Life X 3 and the Tony Award-winning Art.
