Hannah Montana Biography
Born November 23, 1992, Destiny Hope Cyrus, or Miley Cyrus, as she is known by her fans, was born in Nashville, TN. She was given the nickname Miley by her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, because as he says she was "always full of smiles." Billy Ray has also had a successful career as a country singer, singing the hit song "Achy, Breaky Heart."
Miley Cyrus now stars in the runaway Disney Channel hit show "Hannah Montana," a show where she plays a teen who leads a double life. During the day she is just an ordinary girl going through ordinary issues as Hannah Stewart, but at night she becomes Hannah Montana, an international pop star.
Before playing Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus had a few small parts on television shows and movies. She appeared in Tim Burton's popular movie, "Big Fish", in 2003 when she was only 10 years old. Miley (Hannah Montana) also appeared multiple times as an extra on her fathers hit television show "Doc" as well.
On the air since 2006, the show "Hannah Montana" has become one of the most popular shows on the Disney Channel. In 2007, "Hannah Montana" won the Teens Choice Award for favorite comedy show.
