Honda Civic Tour - History

The Honda Civic Tour was created by the Honda Motor Company and began in 2001. Each year, the headlining artist customizes a Honda Civic that concertgoers can win in a raffle. The first Honda Civic Tour featured blink-182, who wished to support their latest album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001). Other artists to perform in the first year of the Honda Civic Tour included Sum 41, The Ataris, and the Alkaline Trio.

The Honda Civic Tour continued on in 2002. Incubus headlined the tour, and played a total of 47 shows. Other supporting acts in 2002 included Hoobastank and Phantom Planet. The tour continued on to much success in the years that followed, featuring the talents of New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, and Less Than Jake (2003), Dashboard Confessional and The Get Up Kids (2004), Maroon 5 and The Thrills (2005), The Black Eyed Peas, Flipsyde, and The Pussycat Dolls (2006), and Fall Out Boy (2007).

This year, Panic At The Disco will headline the Honda Civic Tour. They will be touring in support of their latest album, Pretty. Odd., which is scheduled for release on March 25, 2008. Other supporting acts include Motion City Soundtrack, The Hush Sound, and Phantom Planet.

Also this year, Panic At The Disco will use concert proceeds to support environmental causes. For each ticket purchased, one dollar will go into a fund for Reverb (an organization for greener concert tours) and Global Inheritance (an organization in support of progressive causes). The new Honda Civic Hybrid inspired the environmentally friendly theme of this year's Honda Civic Tour, and the members of Panic At The Disco have all autographed their own custom Honda Civic Hybrid, making it a coveted prize.
