It’s hard to imagine anything greater than watching dragons soar inside a theater - but now you can with How to Train Your Dragon tickets. The live adaptation of the 2011 Dreamworks film (which was loosely based on a book of the same name) features all of the film’s beloved characters, with Hiccup the Viking and his dragon, Toothless, at the forefront.
Follow Hiccup as he learns the ins and outs of training Toothless in this show featuring 24 animatronic dragons, produced in partnership with the geniuses behind Walking with Dinosuars - The Arena Spectacular.
It’s been decades now that the island of Berk has been plagued by dragons that burn down the villages, eat the livestock, and cause complete mayhem for the tiny town of Vikings. Led by Stoick the Vast, villagers come together to defeat the pesky dragons — all except Hiccup, an awkward boy with no dragon-hunting skills to speak of… and Stoick’s son.
Tired of being ridiculed for not living up to his father’s expectations, Hiccup creates a cannon to shoot down Night Fury, believed to be the rarest, most vicious dragon of them all, in an attempt to prove everyone wrong. If only he can kill the dragon, he thinks, people will start to respect him.
Only once he’s caught Night Fury, Hiccup can’t find it in him to kill it. He cuts the dragon loose, though the creature is left with an injured tail and unable to fly. Through patience and perseverance, Hiccup is able to earn the trust of Night Fury, who he comes to call Toothless because of his retractable teeth. After Hiccup makes a prosthetic tail and a harness, he's able to ride Toothless and the two become friends. Hiccup starts to realize that maybe the Vikings were all wrong about dragons.
But can he get the rest of the villagers to go along with his revelation?
