About Jason Aldean

Youth

Jason Aldean was born on February 28, 1977 in Macon, Georgia, and it didn't take long before he discovered his love for music. As a boy, the country star would spend his summer days practicing guitar chords, so that by the time his father came home from work the father-son duo could play together and slowly he developed an ear for music. At the age of fourteen, Aldean had his first performance at the local VFW hall and after hearing the applause of all ten people in the audience he knew he was hooked for life.

A Rough Start

Success, however, did not come instantaneously to Jason Aldean. He moved to Nashville after signing with Warner-Chappell, a song-publishing company, at age 21. Within a month of moving, he was offered a recording contract, but he was subsequently dropped. Aldean then signed with another label, but was dropped again in 2000 for postponing recording sessions.

After getting dropped a second time, he struggled to find a new label and became especially discouraged when promised talent scouts skipped his showcases. Aldean was ready to throw in the towel and gave himself deadline of six months to find a new label or go home. But as fate would have it, within five weeks of setting his six month deadline, Aldean was offered a deal from Broken Bow Records.

With the support of his new label, Jason Aldean released his first single, "Hicktown," in early 2005. "Hicktown" was the lead-off single to his self-titled album Jason Aldean, which would peak at #10 on the Billboard Country charts and would later earn Adlean his first #1 hit in "Why."

Gaining Fame

Jason Aldean's debut album earned him the title of "Top New Male Vocalist" at the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards, and raised expectations for his next album, Relentless. The album was released on May 29, 2007, and featured songs "Johnny Cash," "Laughed Until We Cried," and "Relentless."

While Aldean's sophomore effort also performed reasonably well, it was his third album Wide Open that certified his position as a country superstar. Aldean released the lead single off Wide Open, "She's Country" in December of 2008, which quickly became his first Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and the second #1 hit of his career. The second single from Wide Open also reached #1 status and the album was certified platinum by the RIAA.

It's Kinda His Party

Jason Aldean released his latest album, My Kinda Party, on November 2, 2010. His first single from the album, "My Kinda Party," marked his tenth top 10 country hit. "Don't You Wanna Stay," an intimate duet with Kelly Clarkson, was chosen as the second single and peaked at #1 in March of 2011. "Dirt Road Anthem" was selected as the third single from My Kinda Party and Aldean collaborated with rapper Ludacris to perform the song at the 2011 CMT Music Awards. The single has been successful across the charts, reaching #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and breaking into the top ten of the Hot 100 chart. Jason Aldean was a featured performer at the 2011 MLB Home Run Derby, where he performed "My Kinda Party."
